I spent most of last week in Paris. While I would have loved this to be true in reality – and by some misplaced delusion of grandeur get myself on to an ‘emergency’ flight to the French capital – I still wouldn’t be able to physically visit the sumptuous couture shows that are spread across Paris this time each year. Paris Haute Couture Week had to make do with digital shows this year, and I had to watch them in my Mumbai study wearing a linen kurta and not much else. The week was shortened to three days, with hourly releases of video presentations of participating designers and labels. All the videos were gorgeous to watch, their cinematic ability transformed the few clothes into costumes as part of a visually engaging short film.
