Days after senior Gujarat cadre IAS officer and former MSME secretary at the Centre, Arvind Sharma, in a sudden move took voluntary retirement amid buzz that he will take up a political role in Uttar Pradesh, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday released the names of four candidates including Sharma for the biennial Vidhan Parishad elections this month. Sharma, a close PM Narendra Modi aide, had joined BJP on Thursday. The former Gujarat cadre IAS officer Sharma is considered a close aide of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has also served him since he was Gujarat chief minister.
