In a bid to regain foothold in the highly-competitive Indian smartphone market, Micromax plans to introduce 4-5 devices every quarter, including an ‘aggressively- priced’ 5G device this year, company’s co-founder Rahul Sharma said on Friday. Micromax, which made a comeback in the smartphone market late last year with two smartphones under the ‘in’ brand, will be bringing in models in the price band of ₹7,000-₹25,000. “We currently have two products, and the response to them has been dreamy,” said Mr. Sharma. “We will launch another product in March, around Holi and April onwards, the plan is to bring in 4-5 products every quarter and refresh the portfolio every 6-8 months,” Mr. Sharma said. New Delhi: Bengaluru-headquartered deep-tech startup Log 9 Materials has launched rapid charging battery packs for electric vehicles , the company said in a release. Log 9’s team has used supercapacitor technology and Graphene to develop this battery which is said to give a range of more than 70km for electric two-wheelers and 60-80 km for electric three-wheelers, the release said. It takes only less than 15 minutes for the full charging of these batteries. The company claims that these battery packs offer up to 5x power, resulting in increased load-bearing capacity and acceleration. They are safer and more fire and impact-resistant than lithium-ion batteries. The company specifically targets the B2B last-mile delivery for the deployment of these rapid charging batteries. As China steps up 5G rollout amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the superfast wireless technology is expected to be applied in a greater variety of sectors, with the manufacturing, healthcare, entertainment and automotive sectors likely to see the highest impact in the near-term, according to a new report by international professional services firm EY. New Delhi: The opening day of the spectrum auction fetched bids worth Rs 77,146 crore from the participating companies which included telecom giants Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea. It was the first spectrum auction in five years. The government said that the response was better than they had expected. The government had anticipated bids worth Rs 45,000 crore. About 2,308.80 MHz of spectrum in seven bands worth nearly Rs 4 lakh crore at the reserve price was offered for bidding. There have been bids for 849.20 MHz so far. There were, however, no takers for spectrum in 700 MHz and 2500 MHz bands on the first day. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that Rs 77,146 crore worth of spectrum was bid on the first day but there were no takers for the airwaves in the premium 700 MHz and 2500 MHz bands.
