IBM today announced that Safexpress , India's leading supply chain and logistics company, has deployed ' PROPEL-i ', a bespoke, end-to-end cloud-native logistics platform, which was developed in collaboration with IBM Global Business Services . The digital platform enables the company to attain agility in demand management, obtain advanced and flexible dynamic pricing modelling capabilities and provides enhanced visibility and transparency for its customers. Established in 1997, Safexpress offers a wide range of innovative supply chain services including express distribution, third-party logistics and consulting to its customers. Safexpress with its network of 60 logistics parks, 42 3PL locations, 1959 booking offices, 7,500 containerized GPS-enabled vehicles, operates on 1,830 routes and delivers 100 million packages a year to over 5,000 corporations across 31083 pin codes in India. COVID-19 cases decline for sixth straight week worldwide but more contagious strains spreading rapidly: WHO

Video Player Close GENEVA, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide has been decreasing for the sixth week in a row, but the more contagious variants of the virus are spreading fast, the World Health Organization (WHO) said in its weekly pandemic report published on Wednesday. The number of new coronavirus cases has dropped by 11 percent since last week, and North America, South America, Europe, Africa and the Western Pacific region all reported decreases. The Americas have seen the largest weekly decline with 19 percent, while the U.S. still has the highest number of weekly cases at 480,467. The number of deaths is also trending downward, the WHO said, dropping by 20 percent worldwide since last week. According to the WHO report, since the beginning of the pandemic 110 million infections and 2.5 million deaths have been recorded globally. Biden to order a review of US supply chains for vital goods

The United States has become increasingly reliant on imports of these goods - a potential national security and economic risk that the Biden administration hopes to address with the planned 100-day review and the possibility of increased domestic production, according to administration officials who insisted on anonymity to discuss the order. However, Biden will also look to work with international partners to ensure a stable and reliable supply chain. The order being signed Wednesday will include sectoral reviews to be completed within one year for defense, public health and biological preparedness, information communications technology, energy, transportation and food production. Oshkosh Defense to build next-generation U.S. Postal delivery vehicles

U.S. Postal Service (USPS) said on Tuesday it will award a multibillion-dollar, 10-year contract to Oshkosh Defense to manufacture a new generation of postal delivery vehicles. Under the initial $482 million investment, Oshkosh Defense, a unit of Oshkosh Corp , will finalize the production design, testing and vehicle tooling necessary prior to vehicle production. The per-vehicle price was not disclosed. The contract, which could be worth more than $6 billion in total, allows for delivery of between 50,000 and 165,000 of the vehicles over 10 years, which will be a mix of internal combustion-powered and battery-electric vehicles. Oshkosh previously teamed up with Ford Motor Co on its proposal that includes an earlier prototype based on a Transit van. Ford declined to comment and Oshkosh declined to say what role, if any, Ford played in winning the contract.
