Shop.com.mm brings 11.11 The World’s Biggest Sale to Myanmar
11.11 (November 11 th ) is the biggest online sales event in the world. It was originally set up by the Alibaba Group, Shop’s parent company, as a symbolic celebration for singles (11.11). This mentality quickly spread throughout the world, and now 11.11 is now celebrated across the Asian Pacific, Europe, America, and now Myanmar! This is the 3rd year that Shop.com.mm is bringing 11.11 to the people of Myanmar and will cast a shadow over last year’s event. This year promises to be, once again, the biggest sale in the history of Myanmar! Despite the challenges the world has faced in the time of COVID19, Shop feels a responsibility to continue supporting economic activity online. Economic slowdowns have been widespread and this has resulted in customers not having access to their normal array of goods and financial troubles for businesses who can not reach their customer base. Shop sees themselves in a position to help not only stir up sales for businesses and particular ... » Learn More about Shop.com.mm brings 11.11 The World’s Biggest Sale to Myanmar
Grand Ayatollah Sistani, Iraq’s ‘shepherd’, to meet Pope Francis
Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani, the highest religious authority for Iraq's Shiite Muslims, has wielded subtle but unprecedented power for a cleric, guiding his followers through decades of dictatorship, occupation and conflict. The highly reclusive 90-year-old is set to meet the Catholic Church leader Pope Francis in the holy shrine city of Najaf on Saturday, during the first papal visit to Iraq. It will be a rare in-person meeting for Sistani, whose sermons are typically delivered through a representative. That has not dulled their effect: his words have sent thousands of Iraqis to polling stations, protest squares or battlefields since the US-led invasion in 2003. "Despite a broad shift away from religion around the world, the reverence for Sistani is unmoved," said Marsin Alshamary, a Brookings Institute research fellow. The thin, wispy-haired cleric has had to balance the conventional role of the revered establishment known as the "marjaiyah" with the expectation since 2003 ... » Learn More about Grand Ayatollah Sistani, Iraq’s ‘shepherd’, to meet Pope Francis

(Photo by Philip FONG / AFP) TOKYO, Japan – Honda launched the world’s most advanced self-driving car licensed for the road on Friday, releasing an initial batch of 100 models in Japan. The Legend is capable of adaptive driving in lanes, as well as passing and switching lanes under certain circumstances. The car also features an emergency stop function in case a driver is unresponsive to handover warnings, and Honda touts extensive safety testing. “Approximately 10 million patterns of possible real-world situations were simulated during system development, and real-world demonstration tests were conducted on expressways for a total of approximately 1.3 million kilometres (800,000 miles),” it said in a statement. Experts said the limited rollout would help determine whether there is sufficient demand for more autonomous vehicles. Acquisition star Standhardinger puts Ginebra on course for brighter tomorrows
Barangay Ginebra is paving a path to a dynastic future by pulling a page from its past. The Gin Kings acquired NorthPort big man Christian Standhardinger for Greg Slaughter in a one-on-one swap that was reported a year ago, but was locked in the backburner, apparently because of a sabbatical that the Ginebra center took last year. “He’s a throwback to the Ginebra players of old,” Ginebra coach Tim Cone said of Standhardinger hours after the trade was announced on Friday morning by the PBA after approval from its trade committee the night before. “I think the (Gin Kings’) fans will appreciate his style of play.” The Inquirer reported the trade in February last year, citing it as one of the reasons Slaughter decided to take a sabbatical from the league. Slaughter flew to the United States but eventually mended fences with San Miguel Corp. top bosses, who signed him to a fresh contract before finally dealing him to the Batang Pier. Major piece “[Christian’s] strengths will ... » Learn More about Acquisition star Standhardinger puts Ginebra on course for brighter tomorrows
