PARIS: Novak Djokovic will on Monday set a new landmark of 311 weeks as world No. 1, surpassing Roger Federer whose hold on a record-equalling 20 Grand Slam titles is now firmly in the Serb’s sights. The 33-year-old Djokovic, already the winner of 18 majors, has time on his side with Federer turning 40 in August. He is also a year younger than Rafael Nadal who also has 20 majors. “Now that I’ve become the historic No.1, I’m relieved,” said Djokovic after sweeping to a ninth Australian Open last month which guaranteed his extended stay at the top. “Now, I’m going to be able to focus mainly on the Grand Slams.” Djokovic reclaimed the top ranking from Nadal in February 2020 and finished as year-end number one for the sixth time, tying the mark set by Pete Sampras. He is currently in his fifth different spell atop the rankings. Nadal, currently at number two, has been at the top for ‘only’ 209 weeks in total although the 13-time Roland Garros champion can boast being a top ... » Learn More about Djokovic takes Federer’s world No. 1 record, eyes Grand Slam history

The 24-year-old British-born Formula one driver finished third behind the Mercedes drivers at the Ferrari-owned circuit. He became the first Thai on the podium since the championship started in 1950. Albon’s seat has been the subject of some speculation after he traded places with Pierre Gasly last year. With the French driver demoted back to Toro Rosso (now AlphaTauri). Gasly won the Italian Grand Prix at Monza a week ago in a shock result and his form since being demoted. Coupled with Albon having a tough time alongside Max Verstappen, had added to the pressure. “Thanks for sticking with me,” Albon said over the team radio after a race that saw Verstappen retire on the opening lap. “The team has supported me since Day One. SAF trials saliva collection for Covid-19 and antigen rapid tests as more training resumes
SINGAPORE - The Singapore Armed Forces is trialling less invasive methods of collecting samples for Covid-19 testing and tests with rapid results as more training resumes. Self-administered saliva collection and nasal swabs that are less uncomfortable as they reach only partially up the nose are among the methods being trialled in active SAF units, along with antigen rapid tests (ARTs). ARTs are also being trialled at other mass events where participants must register a negative result before being admitted. Such tests are suited for large-scale events, where faster turnaround is critical, including at basic military training graduation parades, which are currently held without invited guests. From this month, all operationally-ready national servicemen (NSmen) from the army, as well as their regular trainers, have to undergo weekly polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests through the usual nasal swabs when they are called for in-camp training. Slovenia Duo Dominating at the 2020 Tour De France
After claiming his second stage victory of the 2020 Tour de France, praise continues to greet every effort from 21-year-old Tadej Pogacar from Slovenia. Despite competing at the event for the first time in his career, excellent performances have ensured that not only does he look certain to claim the youth title, he remains within touching distance of his compatriot Primoz Roglic, who maintains overall leadership of the General Classification after Stage 15. During what looks set to become a golden era for Slovenian professional cycling, both riders have excelled throughout the Tour this year. Although they represent different teams, with Roglic racing with Team Jumbo-Visma and Pogacar with UAE Team Emirates, their endurance and stamina have been unrivaled thus far. Pogacar was always tipped to perform well this year, given the young rider is highly regarded as ... » Learn More about Slovenia Duo Dominating at the 2020 Tour De France
Netflix Steps ups its Game in Thailand as Disney Plus Enters Market
U.S streaming giant Netflix is ramping up its mobile-only subscription plans in Thailand and expanding local content, as arch-rival Disney Plus arrives in the fast-growing market. The world’s biggest video streaming platform by paid customers, Netflix told Reuters more than a million of its nearly 200 million subscribers around the world are in Southeast Asia, home to around 655 million people. But the market is ripe for rapid growth, analysts say, with the Disney+ Hotstar launch in Indonesia next month set to become a key battleground. “What we see in Southeast Asia is that it’s a very mobile-centric market”, Netflix director for product innovation Ajay Arora said in a recent interview. That’s led the company to push cheaper mobile plans and adapt its product to fit lower-end smartphones, Arora said. Southeast Asia is estimated to have generated $600 million in overall subscription music and video revenue in 2019, according to a study by Google, Temasek Holdings and Bain ... » Learn More about Netflix Steps ups its Game in Thailand as Disney Plus Enters Market
