AP reports: WHO study says animals likely source of Covid-19
The findings were largely as expected and left many questions unanswered, but the report provided in-depth detail on the reasoning behind the team's conclusions. The researchers proposed further research in every area except the lab leak hypothesis. The report’s release has been repeatedly delayed, raising questions about whether the Chinese side was trying to skew the conclusions to prevent blame for the pandemic falling on China. A World Health Organization official said late last week that he expected it would be ready for release "in the next few days.” The AP received what appeared to be a near-final version on Monday from a Geneva-based diplomat from a WHO-member country. It wasn’t clear whether the report might still be changed prior to its release. The diplomat did not want to be identified because they were not authorized to release it ahead of publication. The researchers listed four scenarios in order of likelihood for the emergence of the virus named SARS-CoV-2. ... » Learn More about AP reports: WHO study says animals likely source of Covid-19

Chinese government-run facial recognition system hacked by tax fraudsters: Report
Identity verification using facial recognition is widely adopted in China, as the technology has become an integral part of apps from mobile payments and travel to retail, as well as surveillance systems and online platforms for government services. That development, however, has made cybersecurity a major issue in the world’s second-largest economy, where a group of tax scammers has been caught hacking a government-run facial recognition system to fake tax invoices and make millions of yuan in the process, according to a report by the Xinhua Daily Telegraph. Invoices issued by the State Taxation Administration are used to track payments and help crack down on tax evasion. Prosecutors in Shanghai said a criminal group duped that platform’s identity verification system by using manipulated personal information and high-definition photographs, which were bought from an online black market, so its registered shell company can issue fake tax invoices to clients, according to the ... » Learn More about Chinese government-run facial recognition system hacked by tax fraudsters: Report
CCTV cameras in place to catch people using hard shoulder on expressways in Thailand, 1000 baht fines for violators
Bangkok, Thailand- The Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) has made it clear-driving on the hard shoulder on expressways in Thailand will result in 1000 baht fines and authorities are using CCTV footage to catch offenders. Major General Damrongsak Kittipraphat stated to the Thai press this week that the act of driving on the hard shoulder of expressways was against the Traffic Act of Thailand and brought 1000 baht fines to those who violate it. The new rule officially started being enforced yesterday, April 5th, 2021, just before the upcoming Songkran holidays. According to EXAT, the hard shoulder on the left side of expressways and people using them to drive is the cause of many accidents in the Kingdom of Thailand. As a result, EXAT is installing 32 CCTV cameras which will be used to catch offenders and charge them 1000 baht for violations of the law. These have already been installed at ten locations on the Kanchanaphisek Expressway and are in the process of being ... » Learn More about CCTV cameras in place to catch people using hard shoulder on expressways in Thailand, 1000 baht fines for violators
I tried this viral TikTok ‘carbonara’ ramen hack on 4 different types of instant noodles to see which one tasted the best
While instant noodles aren't the healthiest meal option around, you've got to admit they're an absolute lifesaver on lazy days when you don't feel like cooking. Unfortunately, whipping up the same few bowls of noodles can get rather repetitive, especially for people who get bored of eating the same thing over and over again. If you can relate, fret not — TikTok is here to save the day . Apparently, this ramen hack which has gone viral in Japan turns your instant noodles into a bowl of 'carbonara'. The recipe involves mixing together ingredients such as a raw egg, like they do in an actual bowl of carbonara, Kewpie mayonnaise, grated garlic and ramen seasoning to create a thick, creamy gravy. Steps 1. Add a raw egg, a few squirts of Kewpie mayonnaise, a grated clove of garlic and ramen seasoning to a bowl. Give it a good mix till everything is combined. If you're a klutz like me, I recommend using a garlic mincer like I did to avoid accidentally grating off your ... » Learn More about I tried this viral TikTok ‘carbonara’ ramen hack on 4 different types of instant noodles to see which one tasted the best
This garlic peeling hack is blowing up the internet and we’re dying to try it
Oh, how I dread using garlic in my dishes because of the preparation -- I'd been taught to slice the root end of the garlic, then crush it with the side of the knife to remove the skin. Apparently, I've been peeling garlic wrong all my life! According to Valentia Lord , a game lead based in Toronto, there is an easier way to tackle a clove of garlic. It'll cut back on prep time and all the hassle that comes with it. A video shared on her Twitter account showed how easy it is to do it with a small knife. Just one quick stab with the tip of the blade, and the clove is removed from its bulb in one swift move. It took the person in the video about 25 seconds to remove 10 individual clean cloves without its skin (yes, I counted). Imagine all the time you'll save from this hack. The garlic peeling hack has blown many minds, including those of celebrities and chefs. It even caught the attention of US model Chrissy Teigen , who's known to be an avid home cook. You’ve been washing your hair wrong all your life – I tried my hairstylist’s hack and it gave me healthier hair
Recently, I went to the salon with my mum, and our hairstylist commented that her hair is softer than mine even though our hair went through the same bleaching and dyeing process. Like a proud straight-A student, my mum told him that she religiously stuck to the hair washing method he had taught her and shamed me for not doing so. I could sense my stylist becoming appalled by my ignorance, and walked me through the right way to wash it. I've been doing it for days since, and my hair has become tamer than before, even with more bleaching done. CONDITION FIRST, SHAMPOO AFTER Forget everything you've learnt about washing your hair. The instructions on the bottle may say shampoo first...don't. Now is the time to channel your inner stubborn kid. Instead, I was told to put on conditioner first, from the midsection of the hair to the ends. Then, without rinsing it off, apply shampoo while the conditioner is still left on the hair. A quick search on the internet and I ... » Learn More about You’ve been washing your hair wrong all your life – I tried my hairstylist’s hack and it gave me healthier hair
