Herdman, who was named Octavio Zambrano’s replacement on Jan. 8, has spent the past 30 days speaking with members of the men’s side to gain a better understanding of the key issues. “I guess one of the biggest elephants in the room has been addressed in some of our conversations with the players is that on those big moments, they just haven’t been able to deliver and that the culture has been to point fingers. Canada’s Larocque apologizes for removing silver medal after women’s hockey loss
By The Canadian Press Fri., Feb. 23, 2018 PYEONGCHANG, SOUTH KOREA—Canadian defenceman Jocelyne Larocque says she got caught up in the emotion of Thursday’s devastating shootout loss to the United States in the Olympic women’s hockey final and regrets taking off her silver medal almost immediately after it was placed around her neck. In a statement Friday, Larocque apologized to the IOC, International Ice Hockey Federation, the Pyeongchang Olympic Organizing Committee, the Canadian Olympic Committee, Hockey Canada and her teammates and fans. Kenneth Heiner-Moller gives Canada women’s soccer team ‘best-case scenario’
There is only one John Herdman.But in putting Herdman in charge of the men’s national team and naming assistant coach Kenneth Heiner-Moller his replacement with the women, the Canadian Soccer Association opted for continuity and the hope that the experienced Dane can continue the Canadian women’s rise.“Well I think you cannot find a more seamless solution than this one, hopefully,” Heiner-Moller said in an interview. “Because I’ve been in the environment. John Herdman, who led the Canada’s women’s soccer team to back-to-back Olympic bronze medals, is taking over the Canadian men’s program.He replaces the fired Octavio Zambrano, who was named head coach of the Canadian men’s national team program last March.
