The Uttar Pradesh police have killed 103 suspected criminals in alleged encounters over a period of more than two years.This was the claim made by the State police in response to taunts by Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati that the police in Uttar Pradesh were keeping criminals as “state guests.”Ms. Mayawati on Friday, while hailing the police encounter of the four accused in the Hyderabad rape and murder case as “praiseworthy,” had called on the U.P. police to change and “take inspiration” from their counterparts in the Telangana capital.“I want to tell the U.P. police that it should take inspiration from the Hyderabad Police and take tough steps. VADODARA: Mahisagar district’s Balasinor police station is the second-best performing police station in the country. The award was given at the all-India Conference of Director Generals/Inspector Generals of Police at Pune in Maharashtra. Instituted by the union home ministry follwoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s suggestion during a similar conference in Kutch in 2015, the award fetes top 10 among 15,579 police stations in the country. While Aberdeen police station in Andaman and Nicobar Islands topped this year’s list, the Ajk police station in Burhanpur district in Madhya Pradesh stood third. The ranking process begins with the process of shortlisting the best performing police stations in the states and union territories against many set parameters through the Crime and Criminal Tracking System Network.         Police used batons, water cannons and lobbed teargas shells to disperse protesters supporting a senior woman tutor who has filed a sexual harassment complaint against the head of department of Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital on Saturday afternoon. The 46-year-old senior woman tutor had filed a complaint against Faridkot medical college HoD alleging sexual harassment in August this year, but no FIR has been registered and all internal inquiries are pending. The DC had ordered an inquiry under additional deputy commissioner Paramjit Kaur on September 2. Kolkata: Despite the limited resources, remote location and poor connectivity, Aberdeen Police Station in South Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Friday has been selected by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) as the best police station in the country. The selection was made by the officials of Quality Council of India (QCI) which evaluated the police stations and submitted its report to MHA. "They examined everything including public feedback, crime rate, detection, corruption angel, community policing, crèche facility, action take, assistance in case of SOS and coastal security," Dependra Pathak, DGP of Andaman and Nicobar Islands said. The DGP added that the police station had a decent record of crime detection and serving the people.
