COVID-19 vaccination will be provided for free at government facilities: Health Ministry

New Delhi: The coronavirus vaccination at government facilities will be provided for free and the cost will be borne by the Central government, the Union Health Ministry announced on Saturday (February 27, 2021) whereas at private facilities will be charged subject to a financial ceiling. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Health Ministry Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said, "Vaccination at private facilities will be charged subject to a financial ceiling whereas vaccination at government facilities is totally free, the cost being borne by Central government." New Delhi: In the third phase of the coronavirus vaccination drive which begins from March 1, the government is aiming to expand the vaccination drive to the general public of the nation, which include people with co-morbidities in the 45-59 years age group and senior citizens. Adding to this, on Saturday (February 27) the Union Ministry of health and family welfare, in a press release, revealed that the people with co-morbid conditions will need to carry a medical certificate to receive the vaccination. The release also disclosed the list of the 20 co-morbid conditions that would be prioritised for receiving the Covid-19 vaccine. “The simplified system of certifying people with 20 co-morbidities within the 45-59 years age group was also explained to the States. The simplified one page certificate to be signed by any registered medical practitioner is at annexure-1,” the ministry’s statement said. The Union Health Ministry on Friday announced options for advance self registration, on-site registration and facilitated cohort registration for potential beneficiaries of the second round of COVID vaccinations, starting on March 1. The second round of vaccination will cover those over 60 years of age and 45+ with comorbidities. Choice of centres Giving details of the simplified process of registration through three routes, the Ministry said the beneficiaries will be able to self register in advance by downloading the Co-Win 2.0 portal and through other IT applications including Arogya Setu. This will show the government and private hospitals serving as COVID Vaccination Centres (CVCs) with date and time of the available schedules. Coronavirus | Upsurge in positive cases in seven States

India’s active COVID-19 caseload was 1,51,708 on Thursday, comprising 1.37% of the total positive cases. This is largely attributable to the upsurge in daily new cases in Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh. All these States have recorded a rise in daily new cases, said a release issued by the Ministry. India has reported 16,738 new daily COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. Of them, 89.57% are from seven States. Maharashtra continues to report the highest daily new cases at 8,807, followed by Kerala with 4,106, while Punjab reported 558 new cases. “On the other hand, the country has been witnessing a continuous decline in cumulative positivity rate. As on 25th Feb 2021, the cumulative positivity rate stands at 5.17%,” said the release. Coronavirus | Private hospitals can charge up to ₹250 per dose of COVID-19 vaccine

Private hospitals functioning as COVID Vaccination Centres (CVCs) may recover a charge subject to a ceiling of ₹250 per person per dose, the Health Ministry said on Saturday. The Ministry released a list of 20 co-morbidities that enhance the risk of mortality from COVID-19, and now allow beneficiaries in the 45-59 years age bracket to avail of the vaccine. India is all set to start the second phase of COVID-19 vaccination on March 1, which will cover those above 60 years and people who are 45+ years with specified co-morbid conditions. Walk-in registration for COVID-19 vaccine doses to be allowed in next phase, Centre says

New Delhi: The general public too can now avail COVID-19 vaccines in the next phase of the innnoculation drive which begins from March 1, a citizen can walk in to a vaccination centre and get themselves registered for a dose, the government announced on Friday. In a statement to the states, the Centre outlined new guidelines and features that are being included in the Co-WIN platform. The Co-WIN platform is the digital backbone of the innoculation drive, and everyone has to be registered on it to get a dose. India records 16,738 new Covid cases; goes past 15k after a month

The daily rise in coronavirus infections in India was recorded above 15,000 after nearly a month taking the country's total tally of COVID-19 cases to 1,10,46,914, according to the Union health ministry data updated on Thursday.
