Coastal Road: 100 meters of underground tunnel dug in Mumbai

(This story was first published in TOI on March 2, 2021) Mumbai: The BMC’s ‘Mavala’ Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) completed digging 100 meters of the Coastal Road tunnel on Tuesday. According to BMC officials, the TBM digs around 3 meters per day. Mavala is India’s biggest TBM and has been at work 20 metres under the ground since January 11 when it was commissioned by chief minister Uddhav Thackeray . Officials said that the TBM is placed around 20 meters below the ground under Priyadarshini Park at Nepean Sea Road. The tunnel that begins from Priyadarshini Park will pass through Malabar Hill and ends at Choti Chowpatty along Marine Drive. Exports dip marginally in Feb; trade deficit widens

After recording positive growth for two months in a row, India's exports dipped marginally by 0.25 per cent to $27.67 billion in February and trade deficit widened to $12.88 billion, according to preliminary data released by the government on Tuesday. Imports grew 6.98 per cent to $40.55 billion during the month, the data showed. The trade deficit stood at $10.16 billion in February 2020. Exports during April-February 2020-21 were $255.92 billion, compared with $291.87 billion during the same period of last year, exhibiting a negative growth of 12.32 per cent. Imports during April-February this fiscal also dipped 23 per cent to $340.88 billion. In February, oil imports declined 16.63 per cent to $$8.99 billion. It was down by 40.18 per cent to $72.08 billion during 11 months period of the current fiscal. Rs 77,146 cr bids for spectrum on Day 1

India's first auction of spectrum in five years attracted Rs 77,146 crore of bids on the opening day on Monday with Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea participating in the bidding process - a response that the government said was better than expected.
