US President Donald Trump this week took to social media and indicated his decision to bring American troops back home from Syria with a proclamation that the US-led coalition had accomplished the last phase of fight against the remnants of ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) and wound up a four-year war against the jihadist group in Syria successfully. Indicating his desperation to withdraw, Trump tweeted: “Does the USA want to be the Policeman of the Middle East, getting NOTHING but spending precious lives and trillions of dollars protecting others who, in almost all cases, do not appreciate what we are doing? Do we want to be there forever?” The dailyReport Must-reads from across Asia - directly to your inbox Proclaiming an American victory over ISIS in Syria, Trump said in a video, “Our boys, our young women, our men, they’re all coming back and they’re coming back now. The uncertain legacy of the Singapore summit
US President Donald Trump returned from his short summit meeting in Singapore with North Korean leader Kim Jung-un in an exultant mood. “Everybody can now feel much safer than the day I took office,” Trump tweeted. “There is no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea.” He subsequently told reporters, “I have solved that problem.” There is only one catch: what Trump claimed was untrue. Other issues related to nuclear weapons, including ballistic missiles, were not … [Read more...] about The uncertain legacy of the Singapore summit
