Tomato-carrot soup Procedure:Slice carrots. Mix water, sliced carrots and fresh tomatoes in a saucepan.Bring to a boil and allow carrots to soften. In a separate sauce pan, sauté garlic and onions in olive oil.Once the onions are translucent, add canned tomatoes and cook over medium to low heat. When my editor asked me to review the Wyndham Grand Yangon Hotel, on the corner of Kan Yeik Thar and U Aung Myat Road, I accepted. It was not the worst assignment. I gladly took up the offer and invited my mother, a travel buff herself, to escape from home for an all inclusive weekend vacation. The contemporary 20-storey hotel emerges from the shores of Kandawgyi Lake. It was designed by the renowned architecture and interior design firm HASSEL. The hotel is located within Kantharyar centre, a city-wide complex that includes state-of the-art office spaces, a shopping centre, serviced luxury apartments and the hotel. MANILA, Philippines — In what is touted to be the biggest Mango Sago ever made, roughly 150 kilos of ripe mangoes were used to make this record-breaking sweet and tangy, creamy dessert. “We removed and balled the flesh at the center of the fruit,” said chef Richard Hao, who, together with his culinary students from the University of San Jose-Recoletos, prepared the popular summer cooler. “We scraped the pulp from the seed, pureed and mixed this with condensed milk, all-purpose cream and powdered sugar. We then added big balls of sago to the mix, which looked better in the kawa than the usual tiny tapioca pearls.” The kawa, or large cauldron that they used, was four feet deep and six feet in diameter.
