Philip McKeon, child star from 80s sitcom Alice dead at 55
The actor died in Texas on Tuesday after a long battle with illness, McKeon’s spokesman Jeff Ballard told People magazine. “We are all beyond heartbroken and devastated over Phil’s passing,” said Ballard in a statement to the outlet. “His wonderful sense of humour, kindness and loyalty will be remembered by all who crossed his path in life.” RELATED: Roxette singer Marie Fredriksson dead at 61 Philip McKeon, best known for playing Tommy Hyatt on Alice, has died aged 55. At a makeshift classroom inside Annapurna Studios, Marianna de Sanctis, head of film repair at L’Immagine Ritrovata in Bologna, demonstrates how to analyse an old film negative and restore it. Keenly observing her is Amala Akkineni, actor and director of Annapurna College of Film & Media. Earlier, actor-producer Nagarjuna Akkineni tried his hand at a practical session in film repair, guided by Marianna. Later when we speak on the sidelines of the Film Preservation and Restoration Workshop, Amala reveals that ever since she began working with the Annapurna film school, she has been organising an annual film festival of yesteryear Telugu classics. Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the South Korean social satire Parasite, director Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit and Jay Roach’s post MeToo newsroom drama Bombshell have been nominated for the top prize at the 26th annual Screen Actors Guild awards. America Ferrera and Danai Gurira announced the film and TV nominees on Wednesday. Robert De Niro will receive the Life Achievement Award, presented by Leonardo DiCaprio.In the television category, HBO’s Game of Thrones and Big Little Lies, Netflix’s Stranger Things and The Crown, and Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale were nominated for Best Drama Ensemble. Martin O'Neill's team face an Italian side already guaranteed victory in Group E and manager Antonio Conte is likely to field many of his reserves, but it remains to be seen if Ireland can end their long winless streak in this must-win game. Group rivals Sweden and Belgium meet at the same time, with the Swedes aiming to finish second in the group by beating the side who hammered Ireland 3-0 last time out.But Ireland could also take that spot behind Italy if they win and pip Sweden on goal difference.
