Video PlayerClose SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- U.S. airplane giant Boeing Company is considering cutting or halting production of 737 MAX jets after U.S. regulators ruled out any clearance for the troubled planes for flight until 2020, local media reported Sunday. The Boeing Board of Directors is likely to decide on the production status of the 737 Max jets at the final assembly facility in Renton city, Washington State, the Seattle Times daily said. Boeing will probably halt 737 MAX production in one or two weeks as the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said last week it would not approve resumed flights of the 737 MAX airplanes until next year. FAA chief Steve Dickson disclosed that there is no clear timeline for when the 737 Max will be re-certified and that there are 10 to 11 milestones left to complete before it can be approved. Dickson's comments squashed Boeing's hope of getting the planes cleared for resumed service before the end of this year. “Game of Thrones” was both an unprecedented achievement and old-school role model in the TV decade that’s rolling its final credits. Installments of the elaborately produced hit were doled out one at a time by an established outlet, premium cable channel HBO. That was standard TV operating procedure until, suddenly, it wasn’t. The new era arrived in 2013 when a full season’s worth of “House of Cards” popped up amid Netflix’s on-demand movies and old TV shows. The drama’s unexpected home appeared simply to be an option to the 500-channel universe born in the 1990s. But “House of Cards” foreshadowed a streaming gold rush and volume of programming dubbed Peak TV in 2015 — and with no drop in altitude in sight. The result: Nothing is the same, whether it’s how much television we consume; how and where we do it; who gets to make it, and the level of respect given the creatively emboldened small screen. We … [Read more...] about How Streaming, Diversity, #MeToo Shaped TV Decade of Change

MUMBAI: In the latest ominous turn of events in the Jet Airways saga, the troubled airline has delayed repayments worth more than $18 million to global lenders including Citibank that financed its purchase of Boeing 777 planes. Soon after it missed the due date in end March, Jet reached out to the MNC banks with the hope they would not pull the trigger. These banks had lent on the back of guarantees from Export-Import (EXIM) Bank of the US which can be invoked if there is a default. Under the circumstances, a guarantee invocation could sound the death knell for Jet as the US institution would likely deregister and then repossess the planes. “Jet has requested these foreign lenders to condone the payment delay. It has asked for time as local banks are trying to put together a revival package,” a person familiar with the development told ET. EXIM Bank, the official export credit agency of the US, is the biggest backer of Boeing’s exported planes. In a presentation … [Read more...] about Jet delays bank payments, puts ‘own planes’ in danger
Disney lifted the lid on three live-action Star Wars series for its much-hyped new television streaming service Friday, including Ewan McGregor’s return as Obi-Wan Kenobi, as the company revealed a vast lineup for its Netflix rival.Previously unannounced series set in Marvel’s wildly popular superhero universe and a live-action Lady and the Tramp film were among the shows teased at the biennial D23 fan convention in California, to whooping cheers from Disney devotees dressed as their favorite characters.
