CA affirms ruling in favor of Maynilad in rate hike arbitration case (philstar.com) - June 14, 2018 - 5:17pm MANILA, Philippines — The Court of Appeals has affirmed a lower court’s decision upholding Maynilad Water Services Inc.’s legal victory over the delayed implementation of a tariff hike. An arbitral tribunal of the International Chamber of Commerce earlier upheld Maynilad’s alternative rebasing adjustment, which state-run Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) refused to implement. The Regional Trial Court, Branch 93 of Quezon City—acting on a petition filed by Maynilad—later confirmed the utility company’s entitlement to the inclusion of corporate income tax in its tariff and a 13.41 percent rebasing adjustment that it proposed for Jan. 1, 2013 to Dec. 31, 2017. The MWSS challenged this decision with the Court of Appeals. While the MWSS may still go to the … [Read more...] about CA affirms ruling in favor of Maynilad in rate hike arbitration case

Maynilad to customers: Expect water interruption due to floods
Maynilad to customers: Expect water interruption due to floods MANILA, Philippines — Customers of west zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. should brace for continued service interruptions as water supply recovery in several parts of Metro Manila remains indefinite. In an advisory, Maynilad said some customers in the west zone would experience low pressure to no water supply after it reduced water production at the La Mesa treatment plant due to increased turbidity level at Ipo Dam. The water company cannot provide a specific date when water supply would normalize. “We cannot bring water production back to normal until turbidity level in the raw water from Ipo Dam goes down to more manageable levels,” Maynilad spokesperson Jennifer Rufo said. Affected areas include several barangays in Bulacan, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela, Quezon City, Manila, Pasay, Makati, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa and Cavite. Maynilad water supply back to normal
Maynilad water supply back to normal Louise Maureen Simeon (The Philippine Star) - August 18, 2018 - 12:00am MANILA, Philippines — Customers of west zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. can now enjoy stable water supply after three days of interruptions in several parts of Metro Manila. In its latest advisory, Maynilad said it has lifted the implementation of the rotational water availability schedule after the turbidity of water from Ipo Dam returned to manageable levels. This allowed Maynilad to increase water production at the La Mesa Treatment Plants and start filling reservoirs to ensure a sufficient supply for customers. “Water production is back to normal but some customers may still have low water pressure owing to simultaneous withdrawal from our pipelines but this would improve gradually,” Maynilad said. Customers are advised to let the water flow from their faucets for a few seconds … [Read more...] about Maynilad water supply back to normal
