A 30-year-old mechanic from Undri who repairs luxury cars was paraded naked twice by eight people on November 16. One of the accused, a car agent who routinely got vehicles to the victim’s garage, was irked that the bill for a luxury sedan was given directly to the car’s owner, thus leaving no scope for him to score a commission amount. The shameful ordeal assumed grave proportions when the mechanic was abducted from his garage, thrashed and looted. He was then paraded naked, a video of which was uploaded to social media. The mechanic lodged a complaint on Wednesday at Kondhwa police station. Cops arrested five accused — agent Sehar Shaikh and four of his friends, Matin alias Naushad Khan, Rahil Israr Shaikh, Ubaid Ali Shaikh and Siddiqui Idris Shaikh. The other three are absconding. Like every year, there are several contenders for Person of the Year, 2018. I thought of Fortnite, the gaming sensation, but it pales in front of the Chinese checkers between Trump and Jinping. McCain and Bush’s demise reminded us of Vietnam, Iraq and the Cold War. On the centenary of Armistice, a new war may have just begun. Trade conflict is a small part of a larger battle. US hegemony is challenged as China gradually regains its polar position. Yes, China is ascending a great wall of debt, but its will to dominate is taller. Arrest a CFO, impose tariffs, block investments or play military games; nothing would cut the Middle Kingdom’s ambitions. The boundaries of … [Read more...] about Person of the Year: Definitely not Trump, Modi, Mbappe, MeToo brigade, Fed or FAANG!

Video PlayerClose LA PAZ, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Bolivia's Jeanine Anez, leader of the interim government supported by the opposition, presented a bill to the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday that calls for new elections. The bill also calls for the creation of a new Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) to oversee the process. Anez, a conservative lawmaker, declared herself interim president after President Evo Morales and Vice President Alvaro Garcia Linera resigned more than a week ago, following anti-government protests and a military coup. The protests were sparked by Morales' re-election to a fourth term in the Oct. 20 elections, with the opposition refusing to accept the results issued by the existing TSE. Interim Justice Minister Alvaro Coimbra said the bill submitted to lawmakers has "three main objectives," which were recommended by the Organization of American States and the European Union, namely, declaring the results of the Oct. 20 elections null and void, calling for new … [Read more...] about Bolivia’s interim gov’t submits bill to Congress to call for elections
