Filipinos Kenneth Chua and Liza del Rosario finished ninth overall in the mixed doubles event of the 2013 World Games bowling competition at the Bowling Coliseum in Cali, Colombia. Chua and del Rosario had a combined 2,605-pin output in the six-game qualifying round. They averaged 434.2 on 385, 428, 473, 462, 438 and 419 showing. Americans Michael Fagan and Kelly Kulick topped the event. Taking the silver medal were Canadians Lynne Gauther and Dan Maclelland, and Mexicans Alejandro Cruz and Sandra Gongora settled for the bronze. Chua and del Rosario will be gunning for medals in the individual category beginning on Saturday. DUBAI: Roger Federer confirmed Friday that he will team up with fellow Grand Slam winning star Martina Hingis for Switzerland in the mixed doubles at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. “Yes, I will play with Martina in the mixed,” 34-year-old Federer told sport360.com in Dubai. There had been widespread speculation that the two superstars would play together in Brazil. One week after BuzzFeed and the BBC published allegations of rampant match-fixing in professional tennis, a new report in the New York Times on Sunday said a popular sports betting website temporarily suspended betting on its site after a swell of suspicious betting activity arose in the hours preceding a mixed doubles match at the 2016 Australian Open. From NYT: Ahead of a first-round match pitting Lara Arruabarrena and David Marrero against Andrea Hlavackova and Lukasz Kubot, large amounts of money poured in on what would normally be an obscure contest, said Marco Blume, head of sportsbook at the website, Pinnacle Sports, one of the largest and most influential betting websites in the world.
