UN blasts Tigray for war crimes vs humanity
ADDIS ABABA: United Nations leaders on Thursday (Friday in Manila) alleged possible crimes against humanity in Ethiopia’s Tigray region including by Eritrean troops, as they urged a pullout by the neighboring country, which denies involvement. The UN also warned of potentially catastrophic hunger as it pleaded for urgent humanitarian access, although divisions at the Security Council stopped the international community from showing a common front. A week after Amnesty International said that Eritrean troops massacred hundreds of people, the UN rights chief, Michelle Bachelet, joined calls for an investigation. Her office said it had corroborated information about incidents including indiscriminate shelling in the regional capital of Mekele and towns of Humera and Adigrat in November when Ethiopia launched an offensive. It had also verified “reports of grave human rights violations and abuses including mass killings in Axum and in Dengelat in central Tigray by Eritrean armed ... » Learn More about UN blasts Tigray for war crimes vs humanity
Liverpool vs Manchester United Come to a Disappointing 0-0 Draw
Manchester United maintained their position at the top of the table but couldn’t end Liverpool’s unbeaten league run at Anfield. United went into the game a point clear of second-placed Leicester after their win over Southampton on Saturday night. This draw means they are unbeaten in 12 premier league games since their defeat by Arsenal, picking up 30 points from a possible 36. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made three changes from the team that won doggedly at Burnley last week, with Victor Lindelof, Fred and Scott McTominay coming in for Eric Bailly, Edinson Cavani and Nemanja Matic. Liverpool controlled the opening 20 minutes of the game but United looked the most likely team to score beyond that period, with Bruno Fernandes going close from a free-kick. Fernandes and Paul Pogba spurned excellent chances to win it in the second half and United couldn’t find the breakthrough they were clearly looking for after bringing Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood off the bench. ... » Learn More about Liverpool vs Manchester United Come to a Disappointing 0-0 Draw

Household Debt in Thailand has Risen to a Record High
As the Thai Baht soars and the economy lags household debt in Thailand has risen to a record high of 340,000 baht per household. According to a poll on household debt, conducted by University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce. Thanawat Polvichai, a director at UTCC said the poll was conducted among 1,201 respondents across the country. The poll shows over 80% were in debt including car loans , housing loans and credit card debt. Household debt in 2019 grew only 7.4% and 79.8 % of respondents got loans from financial institutions. He said it was very worrying that the record high of household debt resulted from Thailand’s economic slowdown and the soaring Thai baht . The Thai economy is projected to grow 2.5 -2.6% this year. Lower than 3% for the first time in five years. Slow economic growth affect people’s income, so they needed to seek loans for personal consumption expenditure. Image: Mypurgatoryyears/Istock.com via AFP Relaxnews New United States research has found that exercising several times a week could slow down the deterioration in the brain of those at high risk for Alzheimer’s disease. Carried out by researchers from UT Southwestern, the new study looked at 70 sedentary participants over the age of 55 with memory problems and split them into two groups. One group were told to do aerobic exercise for at least a half an hour, four to five times a week, and the other group were told to do flexibility training. Both exercise programs lasted for 12 months. How the People’s Republic of China is Buying American Influence
The People’s Republic of China isn’t exactly a favorite of the American public. Since the Wuhan Coronavirus outbreak of early 2020, Americans are questioning whether or not all of that cheap plastic junk from Wal-Mart doesn’t come with a hidden cost. It’s not just about the virus: There is also the spectre of deindustrialization, which has been a social disaster for the United States, particularly the rust belt. What’s more, Tucker Carlson and others reported during the early days of the Wuhan Coronavirus outbreak that the United States was dependent on China for basic medical supplies, such as penicillin. Carlson’s comments are incredibly important, especially when we begin drilling down further into just how reliant the United States is on China: 97 percent of all antibiotics and 80 percent of all active ingredients in American pharmaceuticals come from China. In 2017 alone, the United States imported a whopping $4.6 billion in foodstuffs from the People’s Republic of China. ... » Learn More about How the People’s Republic of China is Buying American Influence
Inflation is rising and some are worrying
The Biden administration is preparing its monster $1.9-trillion stimulus package, which triggered last week a heated debate among Washington heavyweight economists. The dispute intensified when Lawrence Summers said the stimulus would cause US inflation to jump, so much so that it would hurt the economy. It’s not just a Mr. Anyone who voiced out this concern, as Summers was a treasury secretary during the Clinton administration and a top economic adviser to former US president Barak Obama. Summers was quoted as saying US inflation could even reach the highest level in a generation. His opinion is nothing less than interesting, though the horrific idea of how high inflation could jump is, in reality, less dramatic than it sounds, as a generation in the Western world only spans 30 years. Back in 1991, US inflation stood at around 4.25 percent. This figure was again hit in 2008, just before the global financial crisis sent the world in a nosedive. Summers also foresees a big risk ... » Learn More about Inflation is rising and some are worrying
