Locsin and Arce gave tips for moving on that they found online and asked Alonzo to weigh in on them. They also greeted her a “happy anniversary” — it has been over a year after her split with actor Gerald Anderson. “You know I can’t believe [that] after a year, pagtatatawanan na lang natin (we would just laugh about this),” the “One More Chance” star said. The first tip was to post on social media so that the other person can see it. Covid-19: Nigerian variant does not affect ability to detect, trace infected persons
KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The Nigerian variant B1.525 of Covid-19 has important mutations in its spike protein but they do not affect the ability to detect or trace a person infected with the variant, says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pic) . The Health director-general said this is because existing polymerase chain reaction (PCR) kits use multiple targets to detect variants even though that person can be asymptomatic. "Currently, no data suggests that this variant is of more virulence or causes increased fatality, ” he said in a media statement Saturday (March 6) in response to questions on the Nigerian variant. From laboratory study reports, Dr Noor Hisham said, mutation E484K which was also seen in other variants, including the South African (B.1.351) and Brazilian (P.1) variants, had been associated with some level of resistance to neutralising antibodies which were needed to confer protection. The resistance means a possible reduction in the effectiveness of natural ... » Learn More about Covid-19: Nigerian variant does not affect ability to detect, trace infected persons

Morikawa cruises to WGC victory, pays tribute to Woods
MIAMI: Collin Morikawa fired a three-under-par 69 to clinch a three-shot victory at the World Golf Championships-Workday Championship in Florida on Sunday (Monday in Manila). The 24-year-old PGA Championship winner — who led by two after third round — relied on accurate iron play and nerveless putting to close out victory at the Concession Golf Club in Bradenton. Morikawa’s final round saw him finish on 18 under with a 72-hole aggregate 270, three shots clear of Viktor Hovland, Brooks Koepka and Billy Horschel on 15 under. After an early stumble when he bogeyed the par-four second, Morikawa recovered his composure to play flawlessly thereafter. A 195-yard second shot on the fifth hole left him with a seven-foot birdie putt, which he duly rolled in to return to even for the round. A deft bunker shot on the seventh set up another birdie chance which he converted and he made the turn at two under after making an 11-foot birdie putt on the ninth. Another birdie putt on the ... » Learn More about Morikawa cruises to WGC victory, pays tribute to Woods

Delivery co-op seeks to serve decent work conditions for riders
French associations are trying to prove it's possible to pay delivery riders a minimum wage. DIJON, France: It may have taken a cracked rib, but Bruno Giraud is now joining a growing number of French riders trying to challenge the business model of meal delivery platforms. Giraud, 40, initially found it cool that he could cycle for his job by delivering meals for Uber Eats and Deliveroo in the central French city of Dijon. But he was soon disenchanted with working conditions that are "not far from slavery" with no guaranteed minimum number of work hours or minimum wage. "Before, one could make 70 euros a night but they recruit more and more deliverers and there aren't enough orders, so the price of a delivery drops. It has become really abusive," Giraud said. Delivery platforms have seen a boom in business thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic, as demand has soared in countries where restaurants have closed. The revenue of Anglo-Dutch Just Eat jumped more than 50 percent last ... » Learn More about Delivery co-op seeks to serve decent work conditions for riders
President Jokowi gets first coronavirus jab
President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo received the country's first Covid-19 jab on Wednesday, as the government kicked off a mass vaccination drive to clamp down on soaring case rates. The Muslim-majority nation's top religious body also approved the vaccine as halal -- meaning permissible under Islam -- in a move that could help convince wary citizens. Previous vaccination drives have met resistance among some segments of the country's ... » Learn More about President Jokowi gets first coronavirus jab
Ways for Theaters and Live Performance Venues to Bounce Back
Theaters and live performance venues have suffered dramatically during the pandemic, due to the lockdown restrictions. Even now, as they are lifted in many places, distancing measures are likely to be in place. That means fewer tickets on sale and less money to keep the venues solvent and to fund productions. Even the lucky few who have received grants will only be able to sustain themselves for a limited time. But all is not doom and gloom. There are several ways in which venues might bounce back and sustain themselves as they wait out this challenging time. Donations of time People involved in theater, such as Louise Gund , who is a successful Broadway producer, all had to start somewhere. They can, therefore, confirm the importance of big and small venues alike, which is why it’s essential to try to keep them all open. While there isn’t enough money to bail out every theater and performance venue, donating time might be one option of keeping your local place going. It ... » Learn More about Ways for Theaters and Live Performance Venues to Bounce Back
