Elections normally take place every five years in Britain, but Brexit has proved such a nightmare to deliver that it’s already toppled two prime ministers. Conservative PM David Cameron, who wanted Britain to remain in the European Union, resigned in June 2016 following the shock referendum result. His replacement, Theresa May, then stepped down in May this year after failing several times to pass an agreement on how the UK should leave the bloc. Mr Johnson won the contest with more than 92,000 votes compared to 46,656 for Mr Hunt, drawn from the nearly 160,000 Conservative Party members from around the country.
