STOCKHOLM: The combined sales of three public sector Indian defence companies that figure among the world's 100 top arms suppliers dropped by 6.9 per cent to stand at USD 5.9 billion in 2018 despite a rise in the global weapons sales, according to a new report published by a leading Swedish think tank. Sales of arms and military services by the sector's largest 100 companies (excluding those in China) totalled USD 420 billion in 2018, marking an increase of 4.6 per cent compared with the previous year, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) said on Monday. The new data from SIPRI's Arms Industry Database shows that sales of arms and military services by companies listed in the top 100 have increased by 47 per cent since 2002. The database excludes Chinese companies due to the lack of data to make a reliable estimate. Eighty of the 100 top arms producers in 2018 were based in the USA, Europe and Russia. Uttar Pradesh Police To Drop Women Travelling Alone At Night
New Delhi: In an initiative to protect female travelers during night hours, the Police Response Vehicles (PRV) in Uttar Pradesh will now escort unaccompanied women to their destination between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. This comes in the wake of the recent spurt in crime against women in the state. Director-General of Police (DGP) O.P. Singh has issued the order regarding the same and the services have been started. Any unaccompanied woman, who is out on road during these hours could call a PRV to escort her by dialing 112, the emergency response service of UP police. The PRV will also escort women driving scooters, if the need arises, he said. A similar initiative has been implemented in Sikkim and Punjab. The DGP said, "The service has been started to provide better security to the woman at night. Any unaccompanied woman in distress, or otherwise, can use this service to reach her destination safely." The PRV escorting the woman will necessarily have two women officials. Police … [Read more...] about Uttar Pradesh Police To Drop Women Travelling Alone At Night

Panasonic India CEO roots for Spain, thanks to their seamless attacking style
Talking football with Manish Sharma, CEO of Panasonic India & South Asia: Favourite football moment “Mario Gotze’s 113th minute extra time goal in the 2014 final is one of my favourite memories. The build-up to that goal was one of the most intriguing football duels I have seen.” Favourite team “Spain is my favourite team because of their seamless attacking style. Every player in the team contributes. I am rooting for them to lift the cup again.” Favourite player “I have three. The first is Cristiano Ronaldo, because of his flamboyant nature and great physique. Next is Lionel Messi, as he is one of the most skilled players ever to grace the football world since Diego Maradona. And finally Neymar Jr, who is a rising superstar.” Plans for the 2018 World Cup “I will be watching the matches on TV.
