It was just a stupid little [moment where we decided] ‘Let’s call it Ritt Momney.’ Then, it just stuck from there, so [there’s] not much of a story behind it,” Jack Rutter, the man behind the Salt Lake City-based music project said in a Zoom interview with Music Geek. But it wasn’t the music name that made him popular like the politician. Ritt Momney’s rework of Corinne Bailey Rae’s “Put Your Records On” is now a certified smash hit worldwide including the Philippines. His viral rendition of the song has amassed over 300 million combined streams worldwide.
