By Ellie Advice Columnist Tues., June 26, 2018 I’m female, attractive, independent, early 40s, happily divorced. I’m emotionally ready for dating and a possible relationship. But it’s increasingly hard to meet new people, so I’ve turned to the internet. When a profile or message piques my interest, it often results in me doing a one-sided interview. Article Continued Below I get frustrated and bored and see that he wasn’t interested in learning anything about me. I assume he’s either uninvested in the process, too shy for my liking, isn’t really single, etc. I move on. BUT this happens about 99% of the time. Am I giving up too soon/expecting too much? SAN JOSE, Calif. - Facebook Inc is entering the dating game, Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg said on Tuesday, planning a dating service to matchmake millions of people on the world's largest online social network and nudge them into spending more time there. Facebook shares rose 1.1 per cent to close at $173.86 on the news, which sparked a sell-off of established online dating service providers. Facebook users have been able to reveal their relationship status on the network since it first went live in February 2004. news POST Purchase this article for republication. … [Read more...] about Facebook to play cupid in online dating debut

These are not substitutes for a licensed therapist, but they’re convenient. “We strive for instant gratification,” said Liron Shapira, 30, co-founder of a chat-based Silicon Valley startup called Relationship Hero. “We give 24/7 service. If you want advice at 4 a.m., you can get it.” Like virtual brunch Online dating coaches have been around practically since online dating began, but their focus has shifted. In 2009, when Laurie Davis Edwards started a company called eFlirt Expert, her most popular offering was a dating “concierge” who would write client profiles, suggest potential matches and even respond to messages … [Read more...] about What can online dating coaches do for you in the Tinder era?
Traditionally, the first Sunday in January sees the highest traffic on dating sites and apps, as singles try to make good on their New Year’s resolutions to meet someone. As you’re setting up your profile, swiping and sending those first messages, here are some pieces of advice.1. Write a bio. This seems obvious. But so many people’s “about me” sections are blank! I shouldn’t swipe right on these guys, but sometimes I do. And occasionally I’ll send a message asking them to tell me something about themselves, pointing out that their bio is blank. Yes, dating apps are image-heavy, and some people will swipe left or right without even reading your bio. But that’s no reason to leave it blank. If you don’t put the minimum effort in to create an online dating profile, it shows you’re not taking it seriously and doesn’t bode well for the kind of effort and attention you might put into a date or a relationship. For certain … [Read more...] about 9 tips for upping your online dating game
