State-owned public transportation operator PT Damri has prepared 12 buses to serve passengers using Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) in Kulon Progo regency, Yogyakarta. According to kompas.com, the bus service would employ three types of vehicles, namely five medium-long buses, two medium buses and five Hiace vans. The bus operator currently serves four routes from the airport to Stasiun Wojo in Purworejo regency, Yogyakarta, Kebumen and Magelang. The YIA-Stasiun Wojo bus service is priced at Rp 10,000 (less than US$1) per person. Meanwhile, the YIA-Yogyakarta route costs Rp 40,000 per person, As for YIA-Kebumen and YIA-Magelang routes, the bus fare is Rp 50,000 each passenger. Rahmat Santoso, general manager of Damri in Yogyakarta, said the services can accommodate up to 316 passengers per day. Seven bus operators will take part in a trial run of a trans-Java bus service starting on May 27. “We guarantee that [the service] will launch on May 27. The tickets can be ordered through the operators,” said Transportation Ministry Road Transportation Director General Ahmad Yani recently, as quoted by kontan.co.id. The seven operators, which include Rosalia Indah, Sinar Jaya, Harapan Jaya and Lorena, will operate 34 buses between Jakarta and Surabaya, plus five buses owned by state-owned bus operator Damri. The official said the concept of a trans-Java bus service was that buses would depart from Jakarta to Surabaya or vice versa without leaving the toll roads until reaching their final destination. SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan Gerakan today congratulated Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun for reintroducing the free shuttle bus service but suggested that foreigners be charged for using the facility. Its chairman, Datuk David Choong Vee Hing, said the free shuttle bus service was a good move because it benefited the low-income group. Choong, who is also a vice-president of the party, told a press conference that the state government should impose a fare on foreigners who use the service. The Barisan Nasional (BN) government introduced a free shuttle bus service in 2007 but terminated it after a few months due to poor response. MMDA temporarily hits brakes on provincial bus ban dry run (Philstar.com) - May 6, 2019 - 10:49am MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has temporarily suspended the dry run of the provincial bus ban along EDSA. The dry run is temporarily halted pending the meeting among MMDA, Department of Transportation and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia said in a release. “We will continue with the dry run once the guidelines and implementing rules have been ironed out by the three agencies involved,” he said.
