Families of accused don’t buy Telangana police’s encounter theory
While the public has hailed the Cyberabad police for killing four men accused of raping and murdering a Telangana veterinary doctor on November 27, their families are not quite convinced about the claim of the police that they were shot in an encounter at Shadnagar near Hyderabad.Seventeen-year old Renuka, wife of Chintakunta Chennakesavulu, one of the four men killed, was crestfallen. “Take me to the same place and kill me too. I cannot live without him. I want to die,” she wailed.Chennakesavulu (20) from Gudigandla village of Makthal block in Narayanpet district, was the only one among the four accused who was married. ‘They snatched weapons and fired at us’: Telangana police officer Sajjanar on killing four rape accused
Hyderabad: The Telangana Police on Friday said its personnel resorted to "retaliatory" firing after two of the accused in the rape and murder of a woman veterinarian opened fire at police after snatching weapons from them this morning. Cyberabad Police Commissioner C V Sajjanar told reporters here that one of the accused, Mohammed Arif, was the first to open fire, even as the police team that took them to the crime scene were attacked with stones and sticks. The snatched weapons were in "unlocked" position, he added. All four accused in the gang rape-and-murder case of the 25-year-old woman veterinarian last month were killed in an exchange of fire with police on Friday morning. The incident took place when the accused were taken to the site of the offence for reconstruction of the crime scene as part of the investigation. Pune police detain neighbour in murder case of skating coach found with throat slit
The Pimpri-Chinchwad police on Thursday detained the neighbour of the skating coach and a national-level skater, who was found dead with stab wounds and his throat slit, on an open plot near Hinjewadi on Wednesday.The detained man, identified as Vitthal Dnyanoba Manmode, 30, resides in the same building as the deceased skater, who Nilesh Shivaji Naik, 24, said police.According to police, Naik resided in Vighnaharta Society, Susgaon, in Mulshi. He is a native of Jaisinghpur, Kolhapur. He was found in a pool of blood and the injury was cause by a sharp weapon.Naik was a roller inline skate hockey coach-cum-player and moved to Pune from Kolhapur eight years ago.
