Jharkhand Elections 2019| Battle of two narratives in poll arena
Two hoardings among ubiquitous billboards put up side by side in poll-bound Jharkhand’s capital, Ranchi, define the key electoral issues, which the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hopes will help it retain power and the Opposition Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led alliance to wrest it.The BJP’s hoarding focuses on the “double engine” growth that the party’s governments at the Centre and in Jharkhand have ensured. The JMM’s billboard promises “restoration of land rights” to the natives in the backdrop of changes made to the land acquisition rules in July. AGARTALA: Congress president Rahul Gandhi launched the Lok Sabha election campaign for Tripura at Khumulung, headquarters of the Tripura Tribal Autonomous District Council, on Wednesday. "Whatever the Modi government has done in the past five years was to support the rich people and the corporate sector. Congress, on the other hand, has a record of a series of programmes like MGNREGA for the poor and marginalized sections of the society," he said. Confident that a Congress-led government will come to power this time, he added that no poll promise was fulfilled by the government and things have become tough for people under BJP rule across the country. "Before the last Lok Sabha election, BJP had promised to provide two crore job annually for the youths. Five years on, people want to know how many jobs the Modi-led government has provided so far. The BJP government in Tripura has not yet been able provide job for 7.5 lakh unemployed and no one is happy under BJP's rule," the … [Read more...] about Sabha elections: Modi government works only for the rich, says Rahul Gandhi
