New Delhi: Food Corporation of India has invited applications for 89 vacancies for the post of Assistant General Manager (AGM) and Medical Officer (MO) posts. Out of the total, 87 openings are for AGM in four different categories, while two vacancies are for the post of Medical Officer. Interested candidates can apply on the official website of FCI on fci.gov.in once the application link is enabled. The online application window will open at 10 am on Monday (March 1). The last date to apply is March 31 (4 pm). According to the FCI notification, the call letters will be made available on the portal 10 days before the date of exams. The exams will be tentatively conducted in May or June. The application fee for the test is Rs 1000 for general candidates. SC/ST/PWD and Women candidates are exempted. Total dues owed by electricity distribution companies to power producers rose nearly 24% to ₹1,36,966 crore in December 2020 compared to the same month a year ago, reflecting stress in the sector. The distribution companies (discoms) owed a total of ₹1,10,660 crore to power generation firms in December 2019, according to portal PRAAPTI (Payment Ratification And Analysis in Power procurement for bringing Transparency in Invoicing of generators). The portal was launched in May 2018 to bring in transparency in power purchase transactions between the generators and discoms. In December 2020, the total overdue amount, which was not cleared even after 45 days of grace period offered by generators, stood at ₹1,27,498 crore as against ₹97,835 crore in the year-ago period. According to the latest data on the portal, total outstanding dues in December dipped on a month-on-month basis. In November 2020, the total outstanding dues of discoms stood at ₹1,40,741 crore. India’s percentage carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions rose slower in 2016-19 than in 2011-15 but was much above the world average of 0.7%, according to an analysis published in Nature Climate Change on Monday. By comparison, China posted a 0.4% increase in 2016-19 and the United States registered a decline in emissions of 0.7%, though in absolute numbers they dwarf India’s emissions. In 2018, for instance, China emitted about 10 billion tonnes and the United States 5.41 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide. India emitted 2.65 tonnes over the same time. In 2020, when the pandemic dented economic growth, India’s emissions fell 9.7% to a little more than the world average of 9.6%. The percentage changes are based on data supplied by the countries themselves. Mumbai : The Andheri metropolitan magistrate court on Monday issued a bailable warrant against actor Kangana Ranaut in the defamation case agaijst her after she failed to appear before it. The complaint has been filed by veteran Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar . The metropolitan magistrate court had directed her to appear before it on March 1. The court issued summons to Ranaut on February 1, however, Ranaut did not turn up on Monday following which the court issued a bailable warrant against her. The court posted the matter for further hearing on March 22. Last month, the police submitted a report saying an offence of defamation was made out against the actor. Akhtar filed a criminal complaint against Kangana in November last year before the Andheri metropolitan magistrate for allegedly making defamatory and baseless comments against him.
