By Neil Pasricha Special to the Star Sun., Jan. 20, 2019 How much time a day do you spend reading texts and alerts and notifications and emails and headline skims and flyby tickers and blog feeds and Twitter spews and Instagram comments? A lot? Me too. And that is truly garbage reading. Because what do you remember from it the next month or next year of your life? We have to read more books. After all, books are still the greatest form of deep compressed knowledge on the planet. So how do you get more into your life? Didi Domingo on passion for rhumba, painting & public service
PAGCOR, with 11,300 employees, is being run by a hands-on, committed, no-nonsense, multi-talented and formidable mother. She has served in various government agencies/institutions — from Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) to Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) to Congress to Bureau of Immigration (BI) (handpicked by the two lady presidents of this country, Pres. She thinks that all who work for government should share one core value and that is to serve the people … [Read more...] about Didi Domingo on passion for rhumba, painting & public service

But today the Portuguese capital is better known for its red-hot culinary scene and fine cultural institutions, including a new world-class museum on the waterfront. The faded old-Europe charm remains, but with a stream of exciting openings and fresh inspiration drawn from across the Atlantic, Lisbon seems primed for a new golden era. FRIDAY 2 p.m. Hilltop Highs Article Continued Below To gain some perspective on Lisbon’s undulating terrain, ascend the city’s highest hill into the Graça district. Start at the Graça Convent, whose tiled chapel and baroque cloister opened to the public for the … [Read more...] about A peek into the futuristic and old-world charms of Lisbon in 36 hours

source Joi Ito/Flickr When a tech company reaches a certain level of success, the names of the founders often become synonymous with the brand they create. At least, that’s the case with founders who are the “face” of the company. Still, we tend to forget that Steve Jobs, Travis Kalanick, and Bill Gates, didn’t create Apple, Uber, and Microsoft alone. On the contrary, these companies might not exist in the same capacity if it weren’t for the co-founders who fly under the radar because they chose to steer clear of the spotlight, or because the pressures brought on by the early years of a quickly-growing company pushed them away. Many of these same people have moved on to create even more multi-million dollar ideas, while others left for a life of philanthropy, or pursued another passion. Here are the lesser known co-founders who helped create some of the biggest tech companies you definitely know: Apple … [Read more...] about 23 lesser-known cofounders of the biggest tech companies, and where they are now
