The four-day workshop was attended by Congress president Sonia Gandhi and general secretary in-charge, UP, Priyanka Gandhi. The party has printed 10,000 copies of both the calendar and the diary. The 12 page calendar has pictures of Priyanka Gandhi on each page. The calendar has a list mentioning the birth and death anniversaries of a number of leaders from Dalit, OBC, MBC and tribal communities, who were champions of social justice. NEW DELHI: Upholding the principle of seniority for promotions in the armed forces, a tribunal has quashed the government’s recommendations to appoint a serving Lieutenant General to the army’s highest ranking medical post, the Director General Medical Services (Army), due to being “discriminatory” and done by “extraneous consideration”. The Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) has directed the authorities to instead appoint the senior most among the eligible, another Lieutenant General of the Army Medical Corps, to the post. This officer is Lieutenant General Manomoy Ganguly, who was commissioned into the Army Medical Corps in 1980 and is the applicant in the case. NEW DELHI: Travellers from India have begun cancelling bookings to China in light of the deadly coronavirus outbreak and search queries for cities like Beijing and Shanghai are declining, travel operators and online agents said. “We are getting cancellations from business travellers. This is not the season for leisure travel to China from India, but even leisure travellers are apprehensive about future bookings,” Bigbreaks.com managing director Kapil Goswamy said. “It is not a positive signal.” Balu Ramachandran, a senior vice president at Cleartrip, said the company is starting to see some signs of travellers refraining from booking to China in response to the news of the virus outbreak and the subsequent travel advisory issued by the health ministry. “In fact, last week registered a 31% dip in bookings from the week before that,” Ramachandran said.
