Driving License and Certificate of Registration for vehicles can now be sought online, without the need to visit an RTO, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has announced. These are among a total of 18 new services that will be made available online with Aadhaar-based verification. The major services that are available online include application for a Learner’s Licence, renewal of Driving Licence, duplicate licence application, address change in Driving Licence and Certificate of Registration, issuing of an International Driving Permit, the surrender of a class of vehicle from the licence, application for temporary registration of a motor vehicle, and application for the registration of a motor vehicle with a fully built body. New Delhi: Getting a driving license and RC Book for your vehicle is quite a task in our country. One has to visit the office, stand in the long queues. But that all is going to change now. The Ministry of road transport and highways has issued a notification on Friday (March 5) which states that RC, license and 18 other services can be accessed online. The notification also mentioned that many other RTO services will be digitised. The services will be Aadhaar- authentication based and will try to provide hassle-free services to the citizens. The official Twitter handle of the ministry said that "Certain services regarding Driving License and Certificate of Registration have been made completely online. New Delhi: The Centre on Wednesday issued a notification that as many as 18 services including renewing your licence, issuing a learner’s licence, getting a duplicate license can now be done via Aadhaar-based authentication which means applicants now do not need to visit RTO offices. Other services such as temporary registration of vehicles will also be accessible online as the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) said in a notification on Wednesday. The development comes after the Union government issued a draft notification for linking driving licence and RC with the 12-digit unique identity number assigned to every Indian citizen. The move comes on the heels of the government on February 17 releasing the draft LNG policy that aims to convert 10 per cent of the long haul heavy duty trucks to ply on LNG over the next three years. The policy aims to create LNG terminals with over 100 million tonne per annum along the coastal regions to increase the share of gas in the energy basket to 15 per cent by 2030 from 6 per cent now.
