Freight rates up by 25 pc due to hike in diesel prices, claims AITWA
New Delhi: The surging diesel prices have led to an increase in freight rates across modes of transport as the rates have increased by 25 per cent, said Chairman of All India Transporters Welfare Association ( AITWA ) on Tuesday. "30 to 35 per cent increase in the diesel price has contributed around 25 per cent to 30 per cent increase in the freight rates for the last one year for Full Truck Load (FTL) deals, which are generally between big transporters and companies," said Pradeep Singal, Chairman, AITWA. Explaining the impact of the continuous hike in fuel prices on the transport industry, Singal said, "We are not able to deliver instantly to our customers in such a competitive market. We have our annual, semi-annual contracts, and if the consignment has been left to us, it is not possible for us to charge more from the client later on. So, some portion of it has to be absorbed by the transport organisation and it is really impacting our profitability and also our cost ... » Learn More about Freight rates up by 25 pc due to hike in diesel prices, claims AITWA

New Delhi: Cooking gas LPG price was on Monday hiked by Rs 25 per cylinder across all categories, including subsidised fuel and those availed by Ujjwala scheme beneficiaries - the fourth increase in rates in a month's time. LPG prices have gone up by Rs 125 per 14.2-kg cylinder since the beginning of February, price data from state-owned oil marketing companies showed. Also, jet fuel prices were hiked by a steep 6.5 per cent on the back of a rally in international oil prices. LPG is available only at one rate, market price, across the country. The government, however, gives a small subsidy to select customers. However, this subsidy has been eliminated in metros and major cities through successive price increases over the past couple of years. House price growth picks up unexpectedly in UK in Feb: Nationwide
LONDON : British house price growth picked up unexpectedly last month, mortgage lender Nationwide said on Tuesday, defying expectations of a slowdown as finance minister Rishi Sunak readies new budget measures to boost the market. House prices rose 6.9% in annual terms in February from 6.4% in January, Nationwide said, above all forecasts in a Reuters poll of economists that had pointed to a slowdown to 5.6%. In February alone, prices rose 0.7%, more than reversing a 0.2% decline in January and bucking expectations for a 0.3% drop. Nationwide said the outlook for the housing market was particularly uncertain right now, with the potential for it to be boosted further by Sunak when he presents his annual budget on Wednesday. But the market could slow because of a weakening labour market, the lender said. Sunak looks set to extend a temporary cut to property purchase taxes until June and announce a new mortgage guarantee scheme for first-time buyers, according to media ... » Learn More about House price growth picks up unexpectedly in UK in Feb: Nationwide
