Bea Alonzo. Image: Instagram/@beaalonzo Could Bea Alonzo be taking a dig at ex-boyfriend Gerald Anderson after he confirmed his relationship with Julia Barretto? After more than a year of speculation on whether he and Barretto were an item or not, Anderson did a tell-all through a March 5 exclusive interview with Boy Abunda, stating that he was “very happy” with his “Between Maybes” co-star. And when it came to discussing his controversial breakup, he claimed that his relationship with Alonzo was “toxic.” Alonzo, meanwhile, has been enjoying her time in her Zambales home, and fans could not help but read into her latest Instagram post yesterday, March 6. Reflecting on the time she has spent with loved ones during the pandemic, Alonzo wrote, “So, here’s to TIME!” “Time that is best spent with family, [time] that heals all wounds, and TIME AS THE ULTIMATE TRUTH TELLER!” she declared, ending her sentence with laughing emoji. Gerald Anderson won’t say if he’s ‘taken’ but looks forward to marriage
Gerald Anderson. Image: Instagram/@andersongeraldjr When it comes to his love life, Gerald Anderson still does not want to say much, but is candid about what he wants from a relationship in the future. The “A Soldier’s Heart” star was put on the hot seat in actor Joe Vargas’s vlog posted last Tuesday, Feb. 16. Vargas asked Anderson personal questions which he had to answer if he missed a basketball shot. Anderson was game to answer questions even when he made his shots, save for the question “Taken ka ba ngayon (Are you taken right now)?” For this one, he preferred to stay silent. However, when asked about plans to get married, he deliberately threw away his shot. “Siyempre naman! Iyon iyong next chapter ng buhay natin,” he said. “Inaayos natin lahat iyan.” (Of course! That is the next chapter of our lives. We are working on it.) Asked if he has a child, Anderson got his free throw shot in but still answered the question: “Wala pa pero sana soon (None but I hope I ... » Learn More about Gerald Anderson won’t say if he’s ‘taken’ but looks forward to marriage

Reader talkback: What should Thailand do about Songkran for this year? As expected, this was a passionate topic. Many long-term ex-pats hate the event personally, but many also understand that it is the biggest holiday of the year for the Thai people and the biggest domestic tourism (and before, a major foreign tourism) event. Billions of baht are made every year…but is it at the cost of a lack of a traditional Songkran? We asked our readers also to think of the event from a larger perspective and not just “if you personally dislike it.”(Although got plenty of those responses too) Let’s ... » Learn More about Reader talkback results: What should Thailand do about Songkran for this year?

Mitsubishi Xpander Cross 1.5 (2020) review
Mitsubishi’s mini-MPV has spawned a high-riding model to rival the Honda BR-V. Is it really necessary? What’s new? Thanks to a reasonably spacious seven-seat interior and circa-800,000 baht prices, the Mitsubishi Xpander has managed to meet Thai sales expectations taking up around 20% of the brand’s total sales in 2019. Developed primarily for Indonesia, where it is made and shipped from, the Xpander has now spawned a new, high-riding version additionally bearing the Cross moniker. Although it’s still a front-wheel-drive-only car like the regular model, Mitsubishi bills the Xpander Cross as an SUV taking the fight straight to the Honda BR-V, itself more or less a jacked-up variant of the Mobilio mini-MPV. Key differences in the Xpander Cross SUV from the Xpander MPV is the 20mm higher ride height and slightly wider tracks. Visual distinctions, meanwhile, include roof rails, shark fin antenna, rugged-lloking moldings around the vehicle and specially designed 17in ... » Learn More about Mitsubishi Xpander Cross 1.5 (2020) review
Volvo S60 T8 R-Design plug-in hybrid (2020) review
Another Volvo pops us with lots of bang for the buck. If only it could inspire. The all-new S60 sedan is another product from Volvo that has landed in Thai showrooms with lots of appeal for potential buyers to consider. And that’s even before driving one. Take a look at its on-paper stats, for a start. In T8 plug-in hybrid form, the S60 is equipped with 2.0-litre turbo and supercharged petrol engine. And when combined with the electrical system that supplements it, the combined power rises to an impressive 407hp for a scintillating 0-100kph time of less than 5sec. Mind, that’s a sprint time bracket of a Porsche 911 sports car. Then there’s the CO2-less driving ability of some 50km in the S60 T8, not to mention the all-wheel drive system supported the electric motor. This is an all-season performance sedan, you could easily say. Glance over at the rivals’ spec sheet of the S60 T8 and note that the BMW 330e and Mercedes-Benz C300e are supported by less fancy drivetrains ... » Learn More about Volvo S60 T8 R-Design plug-in hybrid (2020) review
BMW X5 xDrive 45e M Sport (2020) review
The X5 has a new plug-in hybrid improving two key facets -- if used wisely. What’s new? The first X5 from BMW to receive a plug-in hybrid version to choose from was the fourth-generation model, coded F15. The so-called 40e boasted a 2.0-litre petrol-electric four-cylinder with a combined 313hp of power. Today’s fifth-gen model, designated G05, sees a greater hybrid system in which the petrol engine has been switched to a bigger 3.0-litre six-pot boosting maximum power to 394hp for the new 45e. The decision by BMW to go for a bigger motor could be due to the X5’s relatively big body and most of its competition having more than 400hp to play around with. A performance-oriented family SUV with plug-in facility, you could also say. The 45e is being sold in locally assembled form at 4.969 million baht. It comes at a time when archrival Mercedes-Benz has yet to renew the GLE500e, which is based on the old-gen body. The most direct rival for the 45e at the moment is the ... » Learn More about BMW X5 xDrive 45e M Sport (2020) review
Audi Q7 45 TDI Quattro S Line facelift (2020) review
The Audi Q7 has been revised to make its target buyers happier rather than excited. What’s new? When Audi made a comeback in Thailand via a new importer some three years ago, the Q7 had been one of the most popular models thanks to it being an SUV and an all-new model back then. Such a time frame till now means that it’s nip and tuck time for Ingolstadt’s rival to the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE and Volvo XC90 with a range of cosmetic alterations being applied here and there. The main change up front is the grille which looks almost like in the Q8. Audi maybe didn’t want to make the Q7 to look as bold because that could dilute the Q8’s flagships status. The interior has also been updated. But due to cost constraints, the Thai Audi agent has opted for only two digital screens than three. Many new Audi’s now have an electronic instrument panel behind the steering wheel, but not in the Thai-spec Q7. Audi is now focusing on the 249hp 3.0-litre diesel-turbo which has ... » Learn More about Audi Q7 45 TDI Quattro S Line facelift (2020) review
