SINGAPORE - Credentials from several government agencies and educational institutions, as well as more than 19,000 compromised payment cards from banks here, have been put up for sale online by hackers. Russian cyber-security company Group-IB revealed on Tuesday (March 19) that it discovered the user log-ins and passwords from several government organisations on the dark Web over the last two years. The compromised payment card information, which it said was valued at more than $600,000, was found last year. According to a press release from Group-IB, the organisations involved include the Government Technology Agency (GovTech), Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health and the Singapore Police Force, as well as the National University of Singapore. WASHINGTON DC, United States: Cybersecurity vendor FireEye on Wednesday (Oct 3) published an in-depth report on a new North Korea-backed hacker group - APT38 - that is financially motivated and which has successfully managed to steal “hundreds of millions” from banking institutions worldwide.The report, released during ta corporate event in Washington, said APT38 has compromised more than 16 organisations in at least 11 different countries, sometimes simultaneously, since at least 2014 and has tried to steal more than US$1.1 billion. These organisations include Vietnam’s Tien Phong Bank (TPBank), the Bangladesh central bank and Taiwan’s Far Eastern International Bank. hailand is facing a shortage of cybersecurity experts amid the country’s drive for the digital transformation of the economy and society, according to Kitti Kosavisutte, chairman of the Thailand Banking Sector-Computer Emergency Response Team (TB-CERT). His remarks followed the data leaks reported by Kasikornbank and Krung Thai Bank, where personal and corporate data of more than 120,000 bank customers were compromised. Krung Thai Bank reported to the Bank of Thailand that the personal data of 117,000 customers applying for personal, housing and other loans online, were hacked. Kasikorn Bank reported that corporate data of about 3,000 customers using the bank’s online letter of guarantee service, was compromised.
