Red Fort violence orchestrated by BJP: Kejriwal
Extending his support to the farmers agitating in the national capital against the three farm laws, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party workers of perpetrating the violence that took place on Republic Day at Red Fort during farmers' tractor rally. IMAGE: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal addresses during the Kisan Mahapanchayat, in Meerut on Sunday. Photograph: ANI Photo He alleged that the Red Fort violence was planned by the BJP and those who hoisted a flag on the monument on the Republic Day were their party workers. Protesters broke barricades to enter New Delhi and clashed with police in several parts of the national capital during the January 26 'tractor rally' protest organised by the farmers. The protestors had also entered the iconic Mughal era monument Red Fort and unfurled their flags from its ramparts. Assam: ‘Unemployment is a great danger’
'There are more young people in Assam who are unemployed than possibly anywhere else.' IMAGE: Gaurav Gogoi, son of former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi. In November last year, the Congress MP had lost his father, former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi, right in the middle of an election campaign. You can sense he's been through an emotional whirlpool (through our meeting, he refers to his father in the present tense), although he appears calm and reflective. We choose our respective poisons. Foreign investors sanguine about Chinese market
JINAN-Entrepreneur Yun Hwang-suk from the Republic of Korea recently injected $1.5 million into his electronics company in Shandong province. The new funds will be used for product research and development and the upgrading of the integrated inductor production line for the joint venture in the coastal city of Weihai. Yun's confidence in the business is well-founded. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the company's sales revenue increased by 100 million yuan ($15.5 million) to 210 million yuan in 2020. He attributed the firm's success to local supportive policies and opportunities brought by the Chinese market, noting that supportive policies have covered almost every aspect of life, including housing, medical treatment and schooling for youngsters. "Weihai has opened its arms to foreign investors," Yun said. Despite the challenges brought by COVID-19 and the global economic recession, China became the world's top destination for new foreign direct investment last year, and it ... » Learn More about Foreign investors sanguine about Chinese market

French ex-president Sarkozy sentenced to 3 years on corruption charges
Video Player Close PARIS, March 1 (Xinhua) -- A French court on Monday convicted former president Nicolas Sarkozy on charges of corruption and influence peddling and handed him three-year prison sentence, including two years suspended. Magistrates in Paris court found Sarkozy guilty of proposing a prestigious job in Monaco to a prosecutor in exchange for tip-offs on an inquiry into allegations that he had exploited the mental frailty of late L'Oreal heiress, Liliane Bettencourt, to enjoy donations in cash to finance his 2007 presidential campaign. Sarkozy's lawyer Thierry Herzog and former magistrate Gilbert Azibert were sentenced to the same penalty on charges of corruption, trading in influence and concealment of breach of professional secrecy. Modi gets ready for the Battle of 2024
'The BJP's all-India plans can be expected to become clearer around 2022-2023, particularly if -- as some anticipate -- the senior Congress leadership cracks, broadly as between the Nehru-Gandhi loyalists and those who may be termed 'pro-changers',' observes Arun Bhatnagar, a retired IAS officer. Photograph: R Senthil Kumar/PTI Photo Lal Bahadur Shastris slogan, 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan', electrified the nation in the mid-1960s and is as relevant today as it was then. It is key to unity and growth alike. The next few months could be critical for the future of Indian politics. Shortly after the Biden-Harris administration took office in Washington, DC, a disengagement of troops and armaments commenced in India's frontier with China in Ladakh.
