Singapore’s financial management board of Hindu temples to tighten measures to keep track of gold inventory

Singapore’s Hindu Endowments Board (HEB) is taking steps to improve the tracking of all movements of gold items within the four Hindu temples that it manages, the Culture Minister said on March 1, weeks after a former Indian temple chief priest was charged with misappropriating and pawning gold jewellery. Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, told Parliament on March 1 that the temples’ management committees would tighten oversight of the gold inventories in their temples, Today newspaper reported. The HEB will also carry out more audits each year, including unannounced ones, Mr. Tong said. Mr. Tong was replying to a question asked by parliamentarian Murali Pillai if the HEB had done a review of the case at Sri Mariamman Temple and if steps were being taken to prevent a repeat. Modi’s infra push likely to double this highway builder’s revenue in 4-5 years

By Dhwani Pandya Dilip Buildcon Ltd. , one of the top highway builders in India, expects revenue to double in the next 4-5 years on an infrastructure push by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, Rohan Suryavanshi , the company’s head of strategy & planning, said in an interview with Bloomberg TV. “We should be looking at 15%-20% growth year-on-year, which will lead us to double our sales in next 4-5 years,” he said. “We should be looking at an increasing order book.” India announced the highest ever outlay of 1.18 trillion rupees ($16 billion) for the development of highways and roads in its 2021-22 budget. A custom Bloomberg gauge of Indian road builders has gained 27.6% since the budget was presented on Feb. 1 as compared to a gain of 2.99% in the benchmark BSE Sensex. Russia works to reduce dependence on dollar

Video Player Close MOSCOW, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Russia is working to decrease dependence on the U.S. dollar and strengthen its ruble, Russian Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said Tuesday. "Both the Central Bank and the government have been pursuing a policy of de-dollarization as instructed by the president in recent years," Matviyenko told RIA Novosti news agency in an interview. The share of the greenback in Russia's foreign currency reserves is declining and the country's investment in U.S. government obligations has dropped to 1/30 of the level 10 years ago, said the leader of the upper house of the Russian parliament. She clarified that this process is developing steadily and should not be rushed, adding that the policy strongly supported by the Russian parliament will strengthen the country's sovereignty.
