(This story was first published in the Times of India on January 20, 2021)Mumbai: BEST workers union announced on Wednesday that it will take a morcha of workers to Mantralaya on Febraury 17 to demand merger of the BEST budget with the BMC budget as this will be a solution to the financial problems faced by the undertaking. A memorandum will be submitted to chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on that day, said union leader Shashank Rao. He further said that merging budgets would mean that the BMC, which is the parent body, will look after the financial needs of the transport and power supply wings of BEST. "This has been promised by the ruling Shiv Sena in the past, but has not been implemented. We have therefore decided to march to Mantralaya in February," he stated. AAI techno-feasibility committee clears ground for 6 regional airports across Telangana

RoopiA technical committee of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) working for the state of Telangana on construction of new and revival of existing airports in tier 2 and 3 towns has cleared the ground for six regional airports proposed by the government across the state.An expert committee of AAI that visited Hyderabad this week, submitted a report to the state government stating that the proposed regional airports are feasible.The Union government under the regional connectivity scheme sought to develop 56 airports and 31 helipads in the country with an allocation of ₹4,500 crore budget in 2017. The airports and helipads have been proposed in underserved areas of the country to improve regional connectivity.
