NEW DELHI: Ikea has recalled millions of ‘Made in India’ travel mugs from more than 400 stores across the world due to excessive levels of chemicals in the plastic product. “There are no medical issues and this is purely a proactive initiative keeping the safety of our customers in mind,” the Swedish furniture and home products retailer said on its website, urging consumers to stop using the Troligtvis-branded travel mugs immediately. “Ikea risk and compliance team is looking into the details of what happened,” an Ikea India spokesperson told ET, adding that it is a “pre-emptive measure” and “there are no medical issues or health hazards due to our product”. NEW DELHI: India's Republic Day chief guest this year is Brazil President Jair Messias Bolsonaro, who arrives in new Delhi on Friday for a four-day visit January 24-28. Bolsonaro had agreed to this visit last November when PM Narendra Modi had met him at the BRICS Summit. He will be the third Brazilian president to serve as chief guest on Republic Day, after Fernando Henrique Cardoso in 1996 and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in 2004. New Delhi: India and the US have agreed to resolve amicably a dispute over American import duties on certain Indian steel products, wherein Washington is yet to fully comply with the WTO rulings, an official said. The WTO dispute resolution body has ruled against the US in this case stating that the high duty imposed by America on certain hot-rolled carbon steel flat products from India was inconsistent with various provisions of the WTO's Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures. The US agreed to resolve the matter amicably as the appellate body of the WTO's dispute settlement mechanism has become dysfunctional since last month. America has failed to fully comply with a six-year-old ruling of the WTO's dispute panel over import duties on certain Indian steel products which has endorsed India's belief that not only the practices followed by the US, the law itself violates WTO agreements, the official said.
