Seoul city on Thursday announced plans to open a new library and concert hall in areas of the capital that were previously considered underdeveloped and lacked cultural facilities.Under the plan, the city will spend 387.8 billion won ($325.6 million) to build a library in Dongdaemun District in eastern Seoul and a concert hall in Yeongdeungpo District in western Seoul, the metropolitan government said in a press release.“Considering the two venues are being reborn from neglected wastelands into cultural facilities, [we] anticipate they will vitalize the local communities,” it said.The library, spanning a floor space of 35,000 square meters (376,700 square feet), will be built in the Cheongnyangni area that was formally known as a red-light district but is currently going through massive redevelopment.The city said the completed venue will be three times larger than the current landmark Seoul Library nestled in the old city hall building. Budget 2018: Govt allocates Rs 10,000 cr to boost telecom infrastructure
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today announced Rs 10,000-crore outlay for the 2018-19 fiscal on expansion of telecom infrastructure under various government projects in the country.“I have provided Rs 10,000 crore in 2018-19 for creation and augmentation of this telecom infrastructure,” Jaitley said in his budget speech while referring to work done under government’s Bharat Net project.The Bharat Net project aims to connect 2.5 lakh gram panchayats by March 2019.“The task of connecting 1 lakh gram panchayats with high speed optic fibre network has been completed under Phase 1 of Bharat Net program. Business openings hit all-time record in 2018
Last year, more companies were opened than ever before. But few new enterprises are able to survive for five years.According to Statistics Korea on Thursday, the number of companies that were newly opened in 2018 totaled 920,000. That’s a 0.7 percent increase compared to the previous year. It is also the most since data were first compiled in 2006.A total of 234,000 real estate companies were opened last year, up 8.6 percent from the previous year and 25.5 percent of all newly-opened businesses. New wholesale and retail business establishments totaled 200,000, down 4.7 percent on year and 21.8 percent of the total new businesses.A total of 158,000 lodging and restaurant businesses were opened, down 3.2 percent from 2017.While many companies were formed, many were closed.In the wholesale and retail category, 178,000 businesses were shut in 2017. High Street Italia, a building showcasing Italian brands, fashion and lifestyle products through 2020, opened on Wednesday in Garosu-gil, southern Seoul. It was the first time the Italian Trade Agency designated a building in a foreign country solely for the promotion of Italian products.
