Imagine making your way to the nearest Metro station from your office or home via a walkway or subway. Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) hopes to make this a reality, and is looking to collaborate with developers to enable direct access between residential/commercial complexes and underground Metro stations.Once completed, the Metro-3 corridor between Colaba and Seepz will connect six business districts, 30 educational institutes and both domestic and international airport terminals. The 33.5-km corridor is entirely underground with 27 stations.According to MMRC officials, the organisation will facilitate the construction of walkway/subways to these stations, but the cost of construction and maintenance will be borne by the developers. Sensex Jumps Over 150 Points, Nifty Above 11,950
Mumbai: Market benchmark BSE Sensex climbed over 150 points on Thursday tracking gains in other Asian equities after US Federal Reserve kept interest rates unchanged at its policy meeting and hinted at an accommodative stance throughout next year. The 30-share index was trading 149.75 points or 0.37 per cent higher at 40,562.32 in morning trade. The broader Nifty was trading 47.60 points or 0.40 per cent up at 11,957.75. Yes Bank was the top gainer in the Sensex pack rallying up to 4.32 per cent, followed by ICICI Bank Tata Motors, Tata Steel, Vedanta, IndusInd Bank, Hero MotoCorp, SBI and Sun Pharma. On the other hand, ONGC was the top loser, shedding up to 1.25 per cent. Bharti Airtel, Kotak Bank, PowerGrid, ICICI Bank and HDFC were also trading in the red. Video PlayerClose TOKYO, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- The city of Kawasaki in the Greater Tokyo area on Thursday enacted a new ordinance imposing criminal penalties on those found guilty of hate speech targeting ethnic minorities in Japan, a nationwide scourge that has for decades made everyday life here intimidating and miserable for victims. The bill, the first of its kind in Japan, which now bans discriminatory language and actions in public against people who do not come from Japan, was approved by Kawasaki City's sixty-seat assembly and will come into force on July 1. Under the ordinance, violators will be issued warnings and repeat offenders issued city-mandated orders. In addition, the city can reveal the names and addresses of those found guilty of hate speech and criminal charges may be filed against them. 5G could save your life.While dialing 119 has traditionally connected people with emergency services by voice, a new KT offering will link the caller to a dispatcher by video using the new high-speed network. The mobile carrier has teamed up with the National Fire Agency to make this futuristic dream a reality. KT has been conducting tests on video 119 in select regions since October last year, and the service was switched on for general use starting Thursday.With a video connection, rescue workers are able to observe the conditions of the patient and give specific directions to those able to assist until paramedics arrive. They can, for example, transmit a video on cardiopulmonary resuscitation and offer guidance on performing the potentially life-saving measures.This service is carrier independent and can be also used by SK Telecom or LG U+ subscribers.The National Fire Agency said it expects work efficiency to improve with the introduction of the service.
