SHAH ALAM: Eighty-four areas in Klang and nine areas in Kuala Langat will experience an unscheduled water supply disruption today due to a burst pipe at Setia Alam, here this morning. Customer Relations and Management Communications Department of Air Selangor Sdn Bhd head, Abdul Raof Ahmad in a statement today said the water supply disruption, caused by a burst 1,800mm main pipeline at 9am today, would occur in stages in the affected areas. “We are preparing to mobilise tankers to the areas affected and activate the Local Service Centre at 3pm this afternoon. “We apologise for the inconvenience caused by this unexpected incident and will take every effort and action necessary to expedite repair works and to minimise the impact of the water supply disruption,” he said. Huawei has been facing trouble from international markets following the US' allegations of espionage. Since its entry into the 'entity list' on May 16, Huawei has had to end trade with major chipmakers, networking companies and retailers. However, it recognises that the firms are being forced to act.The challenges to Huawei become tougher as several global-standard organisations have decided to end association with the tech firm. The latest to comply with the US blacklisting of Huawei is the SD Association, the Wi-Fi Alliance group and the JEDEC group.Dissociation from the SD Association means Huawei will no longer be able to use microSD cards, which allow users to increase the storage capacity of phones. The Wi-Fi Alliance sets standards for wireless technology and has major companies, including Apple, Intel and Qualcomm, as its members. MALACCA: The Malacca state government has urged Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to ensure the smart metre system is implemented properly, including its ‘myTNB’ application, said Malacca Chief Minister Adly Zahari (pix). He said this would allow consumers, especially people in the state, to monitor their electricity consumption through their smartphones and help them reduce usage. “There are several problems which TNB must look at, for instance what is shown on the ‘myTNB’ is not the same as on the meter and the application is said to be often disrupted and difficult to access,” he said in a press conference held after the Malacca State Executive Council Meeting here today.
