MUMBAI: BJP spokesman Shahnawaz Hussain on Sunday said the country will never forgive Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for insulting Veer Savarkar and asked the Shiv Sena to choose between power and the freedom fighter. Talking to reporters here, Hussain, in a stinging attack on the Congress leader, said there can be no comparison between Savarkar and Gandhi, who has a "borrowed" surname. "Just tweeting a protest against Gandhi's insult of Savarkar will not do. Amid speculation that the National Congress Party (NCP) may seek chief minister’s post for 2.5 years, Shiv Sena senior leader and member of Parliament Sanjay Raut on Friday asserted that his party will hold the post for the full term.Addressing a press conference, Raut said, “The Chief Minister will be from Shiv Sena only. MUMBAI: The three-day-old Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government headed by Uddhav Thackeray won the confidence motion in the state legislative assembly by open poll with 169 votes against zero as opposition BJP walked out from the house in protest. Four MLAs preferred to be neutral in the house. Congress MLA, former chief minister Ashok Chavan moved to seek of vote confidence in the assembly seconded by Sena’ Sunil Prabhu, NCP’s Nawab Malik and Jayant Patil were passed in the house by 169 Votes. MNS’s Pramod Patil, MIM MLA Mohammad Ismail Abdul Khalique, Farooq Shah and CPM MLA Vinod Nikole neither voted in support of MVA not against. MUMBAI: Six MLAs, two each from the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress, will take oath as ministers on Thursday evening along with Uddhav Thackeray, who will be sworn in as the chief minister of Maharashtra, NCP leader Ajit Pawar said. NCP state unit chief Jayant Patil and senior leader Chhagan Bhujbal will be sworn in at the ceremony to be held at the Shivaji Park here, he said. Pawar, however, said he himself will not be taking oath on Thursday. According to sources in the Congress, its Maharashtra unit president Balasaheb Thorat and former state minister Nitin Raut will take oath later in the evening. The Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress have come together under the front called 'Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi' to form government in the state. BENGALURU: Hitting out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his Savarkar barb, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Sunday termed him and his family members as "fake Gandhis". He also accused the Congress and other "so called secular parties" of trying to project the Citizenship (Amendment) Act as a Hindu-Muslim issue with an intention to create unrest in the country.
