Our young neighbours are great foodies, so we have detailed food conversations. I mentioned AKU’S: The Brrgrr Co. to them one evening, and they assured me that the burgers were “Yum”. I had first heard about this place when some friends marked an anniversary picnic with AKU’S. The praise that followed prompted me to take a look at this burger heaven. I found that it had an outlet in Gurugram and Delhi’s Defence Colony (call 8826669279). I looked at the menu and saw that they had an interesting mix of burgers: freshly minced lamb patties, chicken breasts, or a prawn patty. We asked for three kinds: a Bold Bingo, Meister and Chalapeno.I had the Bold Bingo, tasted the other two, and loved them all! Mine had a lamb patty, blue cheese, caramelised onions, blended cheese and lettuce. A retrospective of Satyajit Ray films at IFFI
IFFI has organised a retrospective on Satyajit Ray- Classics of the Maestro, which will give cinephiles an opportunity to watch some of the works of Satyajit Ray in Goa from 16-24 January. Madhabi Mukherjee in Charulata Five films which have been selected for the retrospective are- Charulata (1964), Ghaire Baire (1984) Pather Panchali (1955), Sonar Kella (1974), Shatranj ke Khilari (1977).The opening film of the retrospective is Pather Panchali. The film revolves around the child protagonist Apu in 1920s Bengal. It is based on a Bengali novel of the same name which was written by Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay. Satyajit Ray with Soumitra Chatterjee, Santosh Dutta, Kamu Mukherjee and Sidhartha Chatterjee on the sets of Sonar Kella Pather Panchali won several international awards, including the Best Human Document at Cannes in 1956.
