Multi-billionaire Elon Musk's real net worth, like his personality, is volatile and mercurial.Probably the best known billionaire in the world (and undoubtedly the most covered by the news and social media), Musk and his exact wealth are a matter of speculation because he lives such an un-billionaire type existence. For one, Musk has no guaranteed multimillion dollar annual salary plus stock options and perks from Tesla Inc. Musk has a $56,000 monthly salary from Tesla but hasn't drawn this salary even once. Seems Musk relies on his salaries and perks from his other businesses such as SpaceX, The Boring Company, OpenAI and Neuralink to get by.But here's what we know about Musk's wealth. Forbes estimates his "real time net worth" as of May 15 at $19.5 billion. That's good for Number 40 on Forbes' billionaires list. CNBC places Musk's net worth at about $23.6 billion (no mention of a time frame). And here's why it's tough placing an exact number on Musk's wealth. In January, Tesla announced … [Read more...] about Elon Musk net worth: How much is Tesla, SpaceX CEO worth?

SpaceX has confirmed that its Crew Dragon capsule was destroyed during an engine test last month, possibly causing a drag to the company's plan to bring astronauts into space this year. On April 20, an anomaly occurred during a testing of the Crew Dragon's abort engines at a landing zone of Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, but the private space company had not clarified whether the capsule, launched successfully into space in an unmanned mission in March, was destroyed or not, until Thursday. Before firing the abort engines, "there was an anomaly and the vehicle was destroyed," said Hans Koenigsmann, vice president of Build and Flight Reliability at SpaceX at a press conference to brief the company's planned cargo launch mission on Friday, Xinhua reported. Koenigsmann said initial data indicated that the anomaly occurred during the activation of the engine SuperDraco, but he said he did not believe the engines themselves caused the accident. He also said it's too early to identify the … [Read more...] about Crew Dragon capsule destroyed in ground test: SpaceX
A space capsule suspected to have exploded last month in an incident characterized by manufacturer SpaceX as an "anomaly" was in fact completely destroyed, a US Senator confirmed Wednesday. "The most recent SpaceX anomaly caused the complete loss of the (crew) capsule," Senator Richard Shelby, chairman of a Senate committee that manages NASA's budget, said during a hearing. NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine told Shelby the agency, which has contracted its mission to resume carrying US astronauts to the International Space Station to Elon Musk's SpaceX and Boeing, would be carrying out a joint investigation with SpaceX. NASA and SpaceX have remained tight-lipped about what caused the serious incident during engine tests on April 25. CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla.: Nearly two weeks after a fiery explosion during a ground test of its new crew capsule, SpaceX confirmed on Friday that the vehicle was destroyed, but neither the company nor NASA, its primary customer, have publicly acknowledged the nature of the mishap.Instead, Hans Koenigsmann, vice president of flight reliability for California-based Space Exploration Technologies Corp, known as SpaceX, continued to refer to the accident simply as an "anomaly" - science jargon for when something goes wrong. The April 20 accident occurred on a launch pad at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station as SpaceX was conducting a test of emergency thrusters designed to propel the capsule, dubbed Crew Dragon, to safety from atop the rocket in the event of a launch failure. An attempt to test-fire the eight SuperDraco engines triggered the accident, demolishing the entire vehicle on a test stand, Koenigsmann told reporters at NASA's Kennedy Space Center."Just prior, before we wanted to fire … [Read more...] about SpaceX confirms crew capsule destroyed in April test accident
