Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah has been temporarily released from the national squad in order to work with spin consultant Mushtaq Ahmed at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore ahead of the side's second Test against Sri Lanka, beginning December 19 in Karachi. The 33-year-old was earlier left out of Pakistan's Playing XI for this week's opening Test against Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi--which was the first-ever five day game in the country in over a decade. Shah, who is the fastest bowler to take 200 Test wickets besides being Pakistan's seventh-highest wicket-taker in the longest format of the game, will now work with Mushtaq to improve his spin bowling before rejoining the squad in Karachi on December 16. PV Sindhu lost to Chen Yu Fei of China in her second group game at the BWF World Tour Finals in Guangzhou on Thursday. Sindhu lost to world number 2 Chen 22-20 16-21 12-21 in an encounter that lasted 1 hour and 12 minutes. with the loss, Sindhu's chances of progressing to the semi-finals took a massive hit. The Indian shuttler was under pressure from the start, as Sindu made a couple of unforced errors. That meant she was playing catchup for the rest of the first game, with Chen getting an 11-8 lead at the break. From then on, Sindhu forced her comeback and won the game 22-20 with some excellent strokeplay and precise net play. Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on Thursday assured that media freedom will not be hindered in any form during his tenure, according to a statement from his office.Addressing heads of local media institutions, he said that while there was an opportunity for “reasonable criticism”, he expected every media institution to fulfil its obligation towards the country, by “engaging in favourable media reporting” to uphold the country’s reputation.The statement quoted him as saying: “People of this country elected me to the office of the President with great expectations.
