The decision follows a February 1 military coup that ousted the country’s elected government, provoking massive public protests. “We have terminated a number of channels and removed several videos from YouTube in accordance with our community guidelines and applicable laws,” YouTube said in an emailed statement. The company said it was monitoring the situation for any content that might violate its rules. In December, it pulled 34 channels as part of an investigation into content uploaded in a coordinated influence campaign. A growing number of youngsters aspire to be social media influencers for fame and fortune. But experts warn about a narcissitic trend that can be devastating for youths. Wang Yuke reports from Hong Kong. If Hong Kong's big-time fortune tellers can strike gold by amassing a huge following over time, there's a group of young go-getters trying to take a leaf out of their book — social media influencers. But the luck and instinct that may guarantee one's success in any field of endeavor simply don't fall from the sky. It could be a make-it-or-break-it move. Kenson, 10, is nothing short of a toy influencer in Hong Kong despite his tender age. "I often come across strangers recognizing me on the street. They would leap at me, excitedly shout out my name and ask for selfies," says Kenson shyly. "I was happy about it but it, somehow, set me on edge." While many young YouTubers wallow in stardom and the glee of being lionized, being a household name is not on Kenson's priority list. ... » Learn More about Wallowing in stardom or a minefield?

FRANKFURT: German power grid operator 50Hertz on Friday called for a faster roll-out of onshore wind turbines whose expansion has slowed in recent years amid uncertainty and red tape. "To be very clear: the annual addition of onshore wind power plants in our region must double for us to achieve 100% green power on our grids by 2032," said Stefan Kapferer, head of the company's management board. The sector needs quicker permissioning procedures and faster court settlements of disputes over planned projects, he said. Wind is meant to be the most important driver of Germany's transition to renewable energy, but citizens often hold up new constructions near residential areas. New onshore wind capacity in 50Hertz's region of northeastern Germany, which supplies 18 million consumers with electricity, rose to 427 megawatts (MW) in 2020 from 286 MW in 2019, Kapferer said. But this was well below the level needed each year to reach a targeted 8,400 MW by 2032, which ... » Learn More about Onshore wind development must double, Germany’s 50Hertz says
