Earlier this week, BTS surprised fans with news of an unprecedented stop in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where the boys will perform as part of their ongoing world stadium tour. BTS has already broken numerous records during its “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” concert since May, selling out colossal venues like London’s Wembley Stadium and California’s Rose Bowl Stadium at a breakneck pace. But the latest addition at the 70,000-capacity King Fahd International Stadium in the Saudi capital on Oct. 11 is another thing altogether. Aside from being its first ever concert in Saudi Arabia, it will be Saudi Arabia’s first ever solo stadium concert by a foreign act. Industry pundits see this as an important milestone that signifies BTS’ phenomenal popularity around the world. And if successful, it could open up many more opportunities for K-pop and Korean culture as a whole. “Saudi Arabia is a very conservative country and it is trying … [Read more...] about What does BTS’ Saudi Arabia concert mean?

TEHRAN: Tehran accused Riyadh Friday (May 31) of "sowing division" in the region to Israel's advantage, after the kingdom hosted summits of Gulf and Arab leaders to rally support against the Islamic republic.Saudi Arabia has "continued to sow division between Islamic countries and in the region, which is the wish of the Zionist regime," foreign ministry spokesman Seyed Abbas Mousavi said."We see the attempts by Saudi Arabia to rally neighbouring and Arab countries against Iran as the continuation of futile attempts by America and the Zionist regime," he added.Mousavi expressed disappointment that Riyadh intended to level the same "baseless allegations" against Tehran at a summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in Mecca early on Saturday, "exploiting" its role as host.Saudi Arabia's King Salman on Friday ratcheted up the rhetoric against arch-rival Iran, calling on Arab states to confront its "criminal" actions after attacks on oil installations sparked fears of a regional … [Read more...] about Iran accuses Saudi Arabia of ‘sowing division’
RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA US President Donald Trump issued a new threat to Iran, tweeting that a conflict would be the "official end" of the nation. This comes as Saudi Arabia warned it stood ready to respond with "all strength" and said it was up to Iran to avoid war. The heightened rhetoric follows last week's attacks on Saudi oil assets and the firing of a rocket on Sunday into Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone that exploded near the US embassy. "If Iran wants to fight, that will be the official end of Iran. Never threaten the United States again," Mr Trump said in a tweet without elaborating. A US State Department official said the rocket attack in Baghdad did not hit an American-inhabited facility and had no casualties nor any significant damage. No claims of responsibility had been made, but the US was taking the incident "very seriously". "We have made clear over the past two weeks and again underscore that attacks on US personnel and facilities will not be tolerated and will be … [Read more...] about Trump warns of Iran’s ‘official end’ if it ‘wants to fight’
RIYADH: Saudi Arabia said on Sunday that it wants to avert war in the region but stands ready to respond with “all strength” following last week’s attacks on Saudi oil assets, telling Iran that the ball was now in its court. Riyadh has accused Tehran of ordering Tuesday’s drone strikes on two oil pumping stations in the kingdom, claimed by Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi group. Two days earlier, four vessels, including two Saudi oil tankers, were sabotaged off the coast of the United Arab Emirates. Iran has denied involvement in either operation, which come as Washington and the Islamic Republic spar over sanctions and the US military presence in the region, raising concerns about a potential US-Iran conflict. “The kingdom of Saudi Arabia does not want a war in the region nor does it seek that,“ Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir told a news conference. “It will do what it can to prevent this war and at the same time it … [Read more...] about Saudi Arabia says it seeks to avert war, ball in Iran’s court
By Rashid Husain Syed Opinion Wed., May 1, 2019 The ongoing tirade by President Donald Trump against Iran and his unwavering support for the “embattled” Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman (MBS) has emboldened the brash young prince to persevere with his crusade against dissent in the kingdom. On April 23 Riyadh executed 37 nationals. Thirty-four of them were identified as Shiites. The Saudi government defends such executions as a powerful tool for deterrence. A Saudi interior ministry statement said those executed were found guilty of attacking security installations with explosives, killing a number of security officers and cooperating with enemy organizations against the interests of the country. However, Amnesty International said 11 of the men were convicted of spying for Iran and sentenced to death after a “grossly unfair trial.” At least 14 others were convicted of violent offences related to their participation in anti-government … [Read more...] about Trump is backing the crack-down by MBS in Saudi Arabia
