With the new flights, SIA’s total US frequency will increase to 53 per week by December. Singapore Airlines Singapore Airlines (SIA) is set to fly direct between Singapore and Los Angeles using the carrier’s new Airbus A350-900ULR (ultra-long-range) aircraft from this November. It will also increase existing daily non-stop Singapore-San Francisco services to 10 times per week. The news follows SIA’s announcement in May that it will operate the world’s longest direct commercial route with its non-stop Singapore-New York flights. Flight SQ38 from Singapore to Los Angeles is set to commence from November 2. The route will initially be served three times per week, before daily operations start from November 9 when an additional A350-900ULR aircraft enters service. LOS ANGELES: Biotech billionaire Patrick Soon-Shiong took over Monday as the new owner of the Los Angeles Times and immediately named respected journalist Norman Pearlstine as top editor. The changeover aims to reinvigorate what had been one of the leading US dailies until it fell on hard economic times in the digital era and saw a rise in newsroom unrest. "From today, our important work protecting and building on a rich history of independent journalism begins – with a sense of urgency and purpose," said a note to readers by Soon-Shiong, who agreed to pay US$500 million (RM1.9 billion) and assume US$90 million (RM359 million) in pension liabilities to acquire the daily from the newspaper group Tronc. Martin was at the center of the NFL bullying scandal when he was a member of the Miami Dolphins. The Instagram image read, “When you’re a bully victim & a coward, your options are suicide, or revenge” and included a photo of a gun and shotgun shells.
