It’s more a case of David and Goliath than “Batman v Superman.” Indeed, while the two conflicting parties grappling for their versions of the truth in HBO’s explosive four-part documentary “Allen v. Farrow” are both Hollywood celebrities, you don’t need to be an expert at rocket science to realize just how powerful one is compared to the other. We’re talking about four-time Oscar-winning writer-actor-director Woody Allen (“Annie Hall,” “Manhattan,” “Hannah and Her Sisters”) and his muse-turned-nemesis actress Mia Farrow (“Rosemary’s Baby,” “The Great Gatsby”). In the ’80s and early ’90s, the fabled couple did 13 films together. Woody, who’s now 85 years old, has made a film every year for 40 straight years, and is now preparing to shoot his 51st film—how prolific can you get? Top 10 things that changed in Thailand during the Covid outbreak
Things have changed. In some cases they’ve changed a lot and may never be the same again. Many people are suffering as a result of the impacts of lockdowns and the border closures. Entire industries, like aviation and entertainment, have been profoundly affected. Some people are being forced to re-invent their lives as a result. Fears over Covid-19 are causing people to change their habits and re-evaluate their lives. Here are some of the main things we believe have changed since January this year. Face Masks The now ever-present face mask will be with us for a long time. In Asia, it was never uncommon to see people wearing face masks for traffic, air pollution, fears of disease or just as a fashion statement. In the Covid-era, mask wearing will now just become part of what we wear when in public spaces. When we leave home we’ll check if we have our keys, our wallet AND our face mask. Even when the government relaxes the current laws about the wearing of face masks, most ... » Learn More about Top 10 things that changed in Thailand during the Covid outbreak
A different kind of Allhallowtide season this year, even for these GMA stars
This year, expect observance of the Allhallowtide season—encompassing Halloween, All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day—to be a bit different due to the coronavirus pandemic. Since cemeteries were earlier ordered closed on these days, many celebrities have opted to commemorate their loved ones at home. Halloween parties are out of the question, because mass gatherings are still discouraged. And then there are others who will have to spend the holiday at work, stuck in lock-in tapings. But these won’t stop them from observing family traditions, they said. At the end of the day, the occasion is all about honoring departed loved ones and making sure that their memories will live on. The 2nd coming of Carlo Aquino
Aquino (center) with Star Magic talents, from left: Matt Evans, Kitkat, Ejay Falcon, Jane Oineza, Ria Atayde, Hashtag Ryle Santiago and Alex Castro This much is true: Carlo Aquino is good even when some of his films don’t turn out to be as satisfying as his performances. Certainly, it would be foolhardy for his naysayers to throw shade at the seven-time Urian nominee’s skill as an actor, whose accomplishments include award-worthy portrayals in “Bata, Bata, Paano Ka Ginawa?,” “Throwback Today,” “Dyamper,” “Porno” and “Bar Boys.” Ignore the romance-related intrigues thrown his way. After all, they’re par for the course in the life and career of the 33-year-old former child actor, who has lately been enjoying a career resurgence of sorts Carlo Aquino “Gallen” started the actor’s current run as one of mainstream cinema’s most in-demand screen consorts. “Sobrang nakaka-overwhelm,” Carlo said when we met him for this one-on-one interview. “It did start with ‘Gallen,’ followed ... » Learn More about The 2nd coming of Carlo Aquino
At least 37 confirmed dead in West Sulawesi earthquake
A powerful earthquake rocked West Sulawesi island Friday, killing at least 37 people, levelling a hospital and severely damaging other buildings, authorities said, as they warned there were people still trapped beneath rubble. Hundreds were also injured when the 6.2-magnitude quake struck in the early hours, triggering panic among the terrified residents of the island, which was hit by a huge quake and tsunami two and a half years ago that killed thousands. So far, 29 bodies have been hauled from beneath crumpled buildings in Mamuju, a city of about 110,000 in West Sulawesi province, while another eight were killed south of the area after the quake struck. "We don't know how many more are missing," said Arianto from the rescue agency in Mamuju, who like many Indonesians goes by one name. "There are still people trapped beneath the rubble." Ellen Adarna laughs off rumors linking her to ‘neighbor’ Derek Ramsay
Ellen Adarna Nowadays, Ellen Adarna said she’d make sure that the people she hangs out with have all been tested negative from COVID-19, or those who hardly go out of their homes, too. Morikawa cruises to WGC victory, pays tribute to Woods
MIAMI: Collin Morikawa fired a three-under-par 69 to clinch a three-shot victory at the World Golf Championships-Workday Championship in Florida on Sunday (Monday in Manila). The 24-year-old PGA Championship winner — who led by two after third round — relied on accurate iron play and nerveless putting to close out victory at the Concession Golf Club in Bradenton. Morikawa’s final round saw him finish on 18 under with a 72-hole aggregate 270, three shots clear of Viktor Hovland, Brooks Koepka and Billy Horschel on 15 under. After an early stumble when he bogeyed the par-four second, Morikawa recovered his composure to play flawlessly thereafter. A 195-yard second shot on the fifth hole left him with a seven-foot birdie putt, which he duly rolled in to return to even for the round. A deft bunker shot on the seventh set up another birdie chance which he converted and he made the turn at two under after making an 11-foot birdie putt on the ninth. Another birdie putt on the ... » Learn More about Morikawa cruises to WGC victory, pays tribute to Woods
