November 26, 2018 11:11 Cross-cultural marriages rose again last year after declining for six years, while mixed-race children accounted for their highest proportion yet of total childbirths last year. Statistics Korea said Friday that there were 21,917 cross-cultural marriages last year, up one percent or 208 marriages from 2016. Their numbers had fallen from 35,098 in 2010 to 21,709 in 2016 but edged up again. The majority or 65 percent were between Korean men and foreign women, 19.6 percent were Korean women and foreign husbands, and the rest between two foreigners with one obtaining Korean citizenship. Mixed-race children accounted for 5.2 percent of childbirths, the highest proportion since statistics started in 2008. Last year, mixed-race couples had 18,440 children, down 5.1 percent compared to 2016 while overall childbirths fell 11.9 percent. The product, named Saral Suraksha Bima, will have a maximum sum assured of Rs 1 crore and minimum Rs 2.5 lakh. “Beyond the range specified, insurers can offer (sum assured) on their own and can use the same name for the product if all terms and conditions remain the same,” the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (Irdai) said in its final draft. The product will have a basic cover under which the entire sum assured will be paid by the insurance company on the death of the insured person due to an injury sustained in an accident, provided the death occurs within 12 months from the date of the accident. "The return to classes is a necessity, something fundamental. Of course we have to do it while protecting health, which is the first priority of all our government's plans," he said from a school in the Santiago Metropolitan Region. The return to face-to-face classes will be gradual, consisting of a modality mixed with virtual classes. In addition, the process will be voluntary and flexible, with each family and parent deciding whether to send their children. New Delhi : Homegrown brand Detel on Monday said it plans to raise Rs 150 crore by the end of this year to drive in new electric vehicles.
